FULL REPORT - WDW PTN March 2, 2012
I only have one small trading book . I had to sell off a majority of my pins and I'm just starting to buy new pins to trade with from DSF, DL, and DLPR PTN's . What time does the PTN officially start and at which resort ? I'm sure me and one book can squeeze in next to Margaret and Laz , even if I have to sit on Laz's lap . teasing ...

Kat did NOT request that the post be removed - that request was made by Lansam and they consider their post Proprietary information. As far as I know, she was not paid. My only concern with them is that does this mean that everything we post on there becomes their intellectual property? That would make me very hesitant to post if I couldn't copy my own post somewhere else. I know they "borrow" things from DPF and they seem to be OK with that. Now that I know, next PTN, I'll take more pictures and write my own blog on here. That should solve the issue. Kat was very nice about the whole thing and I'm most sorry that I caused her a problem. It was not my intention. Dawn, I'm not sure I would waste the time to check out the other forum.

OH geez LMAO I meant to say tke your own FUN pics

! I thought maybe that was your way to get around the censor (jk! )

Maybe PinTalk would have been okay if the post said "originally published at PinTalk"? Any ol way, thanks so much for the great report katpogo and all the best with your journalistic endeavors!!

Now that I know, next PTN, I'll take more pictures and write my own blog on here. That should solve the issue.

Margaret, we sort of live through you guys when you attend these events. I would be very thankful if you could take your own pics and post them here for the rest of us who are far from WDW.

I also understand where Kat & Lansam (i.e. Pinpics) stand on this though. It is sort of Pin Talk's intellectual property because Pin Talk requested Katherine to blog exclusively for them.

Even then, I think it should be ok to copy as long as proper credits/references/links are given along with owner's permission.

Kat ... if you get a chance, could you pls give us the PinTalk link maybe, if that is ok ?? Just too lazy to search myself.

swim2sea, I am grateful that you shared the info with us . As Selen said, for us that don't get to these PTN's we live vigorously through these posts .
Katpogo ... best of luck on Pin Talk .

OK NOTED, and although there is not an offical PTN i will be in orlando april 1-4, gonna fart around, definetly going to epcot flower and garden show on tuesday 3rd! have never been so excited, and i will be using the WDW guide from here to locate some possible trades. So if anyone is down or in parks or wants to "do lunch/dinner" anywhere in the area PM peeps.

The fact that Lansam requested the post removed is vey distribing and I would think inapporpriate. (I am not lawyer and leave that to higher pay grade).

Generally speaking when you write and publish something, you retain the copyright on it. However, if you are doing it as an agent for someone else, generally speaking, that third party retains the copyright. As an example, let’s say I work for a company and wrote a story while I was on the clock under their direction, that company own that story and all those characters. But if I write a story on my own time which has nothing to do with my job, then I own the story.

Here, we have a company claiming copyright infringement of work product of a third party. Unless that third party was given some type of consideration for releasing her copyright on the pictures and text, then how can they claim it? Such consideration is usually payment (although not always).

As for the posts on message boards, unless each and every post has a waiver, then it highly unlikely that the copyright would automatically transfer to the owner of the message board.

However, this leads to an underlying concerns. Simply put, Lansam seems to be vigorously defending its supposed copyright by sending you a message to take down this post. This is quite ironic considering the amount of copyright material it uses directly from third parties, including its contributors and Disney. Wouldn’t it been better to post here and with a link to their own message board? Moreover, this erodes Pinpics mission statement and questions how much more will they claim is their "proprietary information". (A interesting stance since information in public domain is not proprietary....) What is next? Refuse people to post their wants with pictures? Or sales board?
Furthermore, as a public relationship matter, this further isolates the Disney community. They have refused to address this forum directly. Simply put, I don’t think this is either good for pin trading nor what people want from a site they spent a decade helping.

Kajtdd, you sure your not a lawyer? Well you are smart and well informed, i didnt really get it either? swim2sea had her own experience, is not an employee of disney, PTN, contemporary etc. so how can someone tell her what thread she can post? Even if the actual pictures were "taken" from pictures on another site, WHO CARES. This doesn't take away from any other site, if anything sparks interest into exploring more. Anywho.....i got the gist and wanna try to go in May. Im bringin my camera LOL
