Wow:( unbelievable. I can't believe this man told you it was super rare because it came on its original card when it was a DLRP lanyard pin. What an outrageous lie!!!!!!. These people should be rounded up and kicked off Disney property.

I visited Disneyland last October and had the pleasure to meet a lovely group of pin traders who were really nice. Unfortunately there was a lady shark who kept looking through my book and was after my DLRP event pins even comimg up to me and interupting trades I was making with other people asking me if I could go and take a look in her book. She even had to have the cheek to tell me how great her pins were etc. A couple from the group I was with were catching my eye to warn me though. I was pretty lucky though as I have been collecting pins for 11 years and trading for 3 or 5 years so I didn't come off too bad. If I had been a newbie though it would have been a completely different story :(

I'm an East-coaster, and the only place available for traders is in the center of Epcot. There are some sharks out there, but there are some decent folks too. It's all salesmanship by the sharks. If they make you feel that what you want is valuable or rare, you're going to jump through hoops to get it. They're no different than car salesmen.

The best story I read on DPF was when one of these sharks wanted a nice pin, the honest trader asked the shark to go into the store and buy him some pins for it. Priceless.

We are from Florida, but we were there for Sci Fi. We picked up lots off HM's. Less counterfeits than at WDW but less cast members wearing lanyards.

We traded at the tables in DLR. We meet "I'm all about the history of the parks". He got the better of me but I didn't care because because he had a couple of pins I couldn't get else where. I don't think there will be trading there much longer from what I saw. It's a ruff looking bunch and that's what shut WDW DTD down. Appearance and sharking.

Not everyone at the tables in Frontierland is out to rip everyone off. Sure, there are the ones that come through that seem to want to do nothing more then just that. I'll say that I've run into more good fair traders in Frontierland then I have sharks. I normally always see the sharks on Main Street on Sunday's. I have never set my books out on Main street because I don't want to have any part of what those greedy people do.

Now I trade out at Westward Ho very often and always have two books. One for my opens, one for my limited's. I don't like just having my limited edition pins out and then someone gets their hopes up about trading their Walt Disney Travel Company pin for. I've been there and it sucks when that happens. As long as the pin is not a fake, scapper or in general a pin that someone else won't trade for, I'll do one for one out of my open edition book.

As for the 2nd wave of the hidden mickey's being out, I'm not sure who's book you saw, but I've yet to see a trader there with the new ones. If they had pages of the new ones, I would really think they were the fakes. The real ones have leaked a little into the park, but nothing in large amounts. The 2nd wave of the hidden mickey's will be released at D23 first & then on Monday after the event, they will be released into the park. Of course, they may be released as early as this friday in the park too, it's hard to say. Either way, they haven't been fully released yet, that's why there isn't much in the park. It's not because the sharks are hunting the lanyards and getting them all.

The new ones that people have come by and tried to trade have mostly been fakes so far. I've only seen a real Minnie mirror pin, everything else looks awful or has the 2008 back stamp.

In the end, if you want to have a good time at Westward Ho, PM me and I'll let you know the next day I'm going :)

Here is a topic alot of traders would like to avoid SHARKS!!! Hahaha I said it, they are everywhere, even in my sock drawer,lol... j/k I get sharked all the time most the time they do it with a smile on there face but heres the kicker are ya smart enough to say no?

I think it's foolish when they don't want to talk about shark's. They are just as much a part of the hobby as rubber pin backs. The difference is that the pin back looks out for you by making sure your finger doesn't get hurt. A shark will leave you broke if you let them. Most new traders to the hobby don't know better about the values and things, and so that's why I try to give them a little crash course of it, just because if they don't know better, it could end up costing them greatly.

i dont have a lot to trade...but i want to go hang out with u shane...im sure i could learn a lot in a day. :)

Ron is ok to talk to, but a pain to trade with. I don't know if you have seen the little girl that hangs out with him but she is getting his bad habit of dragging out the trade. I haven't met a real shark except for this super tall guy that sometimes hangs out at the tables on Thursdays. That guy is Grade A Douche, my girlfriend and i tried trading with him and we were holding some LE's because we were looking for a few specific pins and he straight out said you will never find them, but in a tone that said so you might as well trade them to me. Now i just ignore him when he asks if i can come to the table hes hogging.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread for now, as we've gotten enough discussion out of it. In the future, please refrain from mentioning other trader's names, how they trade, etc. We're not here to mention or tag anyone specific as bad traders, as there could always be two sides to a story when here we are only exposed to one side.
