GSF New Menu [PTD Sundaes New Rules]
It makes me sad thinking I will never get to experience the old PTD sundae. At least we have the old pins to remind us of how great Mickey sprinkles are. Are there any ice cream/confectionery shops in the parks that use Mickey sprinkles. I can't recall ever seeing them. I guess you could also try to buy some Mickey sprinkles and take them with you. Just sprinkle them on before you eat.

I am very curious how one person was able to get 11 red Pascal PTD's in one day. That is what I heard anyway. Maybe it's just a rumor. I hope there won't be any funny business happening now with the new people.

I would ike to see a pic of that big goofy el capitan thing... the one you can see a bit of in the first image provided of the store?

It's a mock movie poster of a Goofy movie... I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.

Actually, the free square varies depending on the season... It's the Christmas candy they are giving out now, thus the more plain peppermint square. Before Halloween they were giving out a Pumpkin Spice square (one with a filling) (at the CA store). After Xmas they'll change it to something else. That's just standard Ghiradelli operation.

All the new employees of the GSF weren't really aware of the one-per-person rule (or most any of the other pin rules), so it was easy to abuse apparently... You could just order 3 or 4 (or maybe more), and they'd sell them to you. I'm pretty sure they've all been informed now though, so it won't be happening anymore (at least, as much). I've only seen two or 3 of the original employees of the DSF since the GSF opened (and only one of those was a non-management type). It seems like they've rotated out the entire staff with this change.

Actually it's not the free peppermint square you get when you walk in. It's a generic milk chocolate square with either a white or dark chocolate figure in the center.
Day 1 the typical dishonest people went and got multiple BT preying on naive new workers. They also cancelled the AP discount and had no parking validation on Thursday. My PTS cost me $27.95 not including gas. So I ask where is my incentive to come to their store and not just go to ebay for the cheaper PTS's?

That's not what I've been getting... I've gone down there several times (twice on Thurs and 3 times on Fri) and every time I got offered the peppermint Ghiradelli square. Only one I've seen tthem offering since they opened. Maybe they had run out briefly and had a backup candy? But normally it's one of the standard squares... It's the drug dealer technique- the first one is free... The 80-count bag is for purchase right over there.

I'm not talking about the free one they hand you. I'm talking about the square they put in the PTS!

Oh... Well, you got one better than me then... My sundaes (only got 2) have only been Ice Cream, caramel, whipped cream, nuts and a cherry... I've never gotten any kind of extra candy/chocolate on the sundae itself...

That's why I thought you were talking about the freebie square just for walking in...

I thought all of thie sundae's they were offering were supposed to have a chocolate square? Maybe the new staff just forgot it. They have them in next to the other condiment/toppings by the column near the pick up
"window"

Ew. These new ice creams sound terrible. I loved the marshmallow cream so so much. Lol
I also really dislike caramel sauce.

The quality is already suffering. Last night my sundae barely had 2 3/4 scoops, caramel was lacking and sank straight to the bottom of the glass. I saw this when the PTD's took off. The CM's just threw in the stuff to get to the next person. So not only are they probably the lowest cost sundae COGS wise it's made half-a$$ed now. I'm not sure if it's worth complaining though, they did get it to me in about 2 minutes this time. Last time it was like 20minutes after I ordered. Both times were off peak hours and not at a release or event. But I'd really like to see a change in the sundae. Perhaps with each new pin? Can we get some chocolate or fudge up in this business?

LMAO... hey I will go buy some pins and than bring them back to Dewar's Candy shop. Than people can come here and have the real stuff that helped start DSF. I am sure many people don't even know that when they started DSF the man in charge said he knew the place to get the ice cream. The only shop that would do is in a small little town and makes stuff all homemade. He said I have been there many times when I drive threw the state. That little shop is still here and making things the same as they always did. Sorry Disney decided to go after the money and not the best product they can give to the fans. I can see them in the big office talking... " why use the good hand made stuff.. It just cost us more. You know the fans will eat what ever we give them" sad yes.. only time will tell how true it is. if you want real change.. stop going in there and supporting them. seems like a no brainer to me.:facepalm:

The purchase of the El Capitan Theater and the creation of the Disney Soda Fountain came during the Michael Eisner - Dick Cook era at Disney. When Cook was asked to resign in 2009, it was just a matter of time before DSF would disappear. They stopped shipping the Dewars ice cream from Bakersfield years ago. I'm surprised that they haven't sold the El Capitan, in the march to get rid of all remnants of the Eisner era.

yup it was Mr. Cook that lead Disney to the best ice cream to use at DSF. My hope is not that all things from M.E. era are gone but that some of his good ideas are made as they should be. We all know that Dewar's will still b around long after the new GSF shop is gone. Maybe if we are lucky...Disney will see what a mistake they made and bring DSF back to its original glory. Till than I am glad I am only a few miles away from the real Dewar's shop. :naughty:

Actually, I'm not sure that's true (about the ice cream)... I had seen the Dewars truck delivering ice cream there as recently as earlier this summer... I think for the Marquee-puzzle release...

[EDIT]- Oops, my bad... It was 'Dreyer's' that I saw... Nevermind...

FYI, Dreyers has a giant ice cream making facility in Bakersfield.

They call them a creamery. I liked Dreyers. I will miss the mint chip, cookies and cream, and the rainbow sherbet. New stuff is bland. It may very well be Dreyers vanilla but all they offer is vanilla. Um hello, it's Ghiradelli. Why am I not at least offered once a CHOCOLATE ice cream??

Based on what I've been reading, I'm saddened to learn that the new candy shop is living down to my already low expectations. Hopefully these problems are just the typical new employee/new store issues and not going to be a permanent problem. (And sorry, they're Ghirardelli employees, not the legendary Disney cast members in my book)

I had mentioned in an earlier posting/chat that Ghirardelli makes chocolates, not ice cream, with Dreyer's being the logical selection. I didn't know about the smaller plant that supplied the DSF ice cream.

Here's hoping that things will improve.
