I was thinking about going to the store tomorrow to try for Snow White as kind of practice for Frozen dolls in November as I've never gotten any of the LE dolls by going to the store. I've always ordered them since the nearest store is about 40 miles from where I live and it was never convenient because of my work schedule, but I'm off tomorrow anyway (and I'm taking off 11/3). There are three stores really close to each other. I called two. The first one told me they are raffling the dolls and you have to put your name between 12:00 and 1:00 for a 1:10 drawing. I called another store close to that one and found they are doing a raffle, but first thing in the morning. Now, I'm not really feeling like I need to go all the way to the store since I suspect I'll be able to get it online and they'll probably do they same thing for the Frozen dolls. I'm really happy that the stores are doing the raffles at different times because it'll make it a lot easier to get a doll if I don't get one at the first store. I'm kind of still curious about the in store experience and I imagine 11/3 is going to be a lot worse, so maybe it's worth the trip.
So, I'm a little conflicted. For those of you who have done online and in store purchases, what do you prefer?
I usually prefer going to the store, just because I find it's more convenient than staying up until 3 in the morning (I live on the east coast).
However, the one thing you might want to watch out for is if they're gonna change up the method of how the store releases the dolls. In my store, the raffles only apply to the 12" Designer line. For the 17" dolls, it's first come, first serve, where they hand out numbered cards before the store opens in the morning. Those are the cases where certain areas could see people camping outside of the stores overnight (one of the many reasons I'm grateful the store closest to me that sells these dolls is located in a mall).
For my store, I get why they do it this way. On the days where both 17" and Designer dolls are released, they get rid of the 17" headache early in the morning, then start the raffle for the Designers at noon. Keeps everything nice and organized. I assume this is how my store will also handle November 3rd's Frozen Fever and Designer Frozen releases, though I haven't heard any official confirmation yet. I'll have to ask them when I go to pick up Teal Jasmine and also try for a chance to get Aladdin.
