Hersheypark pins update

EDIT: I checked the back of the pins. The Reeses does not have a LE stamp but my smores has a LE 600 stamp.



Just got back from the park! Luckily it is only 5 min away.

Asked a manager about how their pin trading would work. Exactly like Disneys. No surprise there.

Here is the surprise.

The pins range from 5.99 - 9.99

If you buy a lanyard ( very ugly) you can pick a pin from a staff member for FREE


The pins the staff members have are Limited Edition pins. You can not buy them.

Any of this sound familiar?

So this is where the plan is flawed. The lanyards only cost 4.99


I will be buying a lanyard next time I go for 4.99 and pick up a free pin. I will do this until I get all 6 of their LE pins

They called them LE pins but ALL of the staff members have them so not sure how LE they are. THey would not give me the size of the LE pins

[Trade Winds Pins]

Disney's not the only place that has (or has had) pin trading/collecting, and they're certainly not the first to introduce it. I think Knott's just started; someone posted here about it with pictures of the pins, some were cute. Hard Rock Cafe has some pretty cool ones too. I don't see a problem with this, and they're not *copying* Disney. I think the pictures NChouser posted are cute.

Oh, and btw, ye olde Disney pins used to be a lot cheaper too--especially when the US Disney Store was releasing them. People use to go to the Disney Store and stock up on inexpensive, yet authentic, Disney pins to trade at the parks.

Pin collecting / trading has been around for decades and pre-dating Disney by a long time. Little League pins, Lion's Club pins, Olympic Pins - all these had "events" where pins would trade at. I have vivid memories of trading pins during the 84 LA Olympics. In fact, the current pin craze at Disney was created after and executive saw the popularity of Olympic pin trading. Funny enough, when the Simpsons spoofed the pin trading, they focused on Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

Yeah I get all of that but Disney does it best.I know Disney has tons and tons of endless pin possibilities but still they just do it better.

I know that pin trading is really a big deal at the Little LEague world series played here in PA every year

I know that Disney was not the first but IMO they are the best.

Agreed. I think it's because Disney has such a variety of pins. You don't have to love all of Disney, you can only like say Alice in Wonderland and make a collection out of it. Whether you like attractions, characters, movies etc. Disney's got plenty of pins in that category waiting for you to collect.
