How do you bring yourself to get rid of a collection, I have a pretty decent (for a noob) stitch collection. I would love to trade and/or sell it because the princesses really have my heart.

But.... Every time I go to move on of the pins to my traders or think about pulling them out to sell them, I can't part with them.

I feel like that about so many of my pins, if a pin made it to my cork board, it's really difficult for me to move it out.

Having said that, when I started collecting back in May, I bought many pins just because I liked them and didn't think about having a theme or limiting myself to just a few characters.

Should I just make an auction for all my stitch pins, like a *lot* auction. Jk, but may not be a bad idea.


Also, is Stitch still popular? I don't see him being as hot as when I started.
 
Hi Perhaps you could help me, I am brand new and can not figure out how to post on this site. I saw this reply button on yours so I hope you do not mind me asking. I have quite a collection of not only pins but other Disney collectibles which is how I saw this site. I just do not see where to type to post things as I am awful on the computer.

Whimsy... pure evil A.D.D. whimsy moves me to change collection focus.

My Tangled divorce was motivated entirely by disgust with the prices. But the other stuff... Heres how it works... Once you succeed is letting go of ONE of a collection you are debating trading out, the rest are easier.

Instead of getting rid of ALL of your stitch, decide on a specific type of stitch pin to keep and let go of the others. Stitch with ducks, or the red cruiser, or chefs hats or food or with lilo...
 
Yes, Rebecca, in order to avoid spammers, admin has set it up so that new members need to make a certain number of posts before they are allowed to create threads and post in certain areas. What I suggest is go into the introduction section and tell us about yourself. It also helps to make comments on the posts others are making about themselves also.
Another place that is great to use for your count, is the pin showroom, it is fun to look at other people's collections and just leave a comment.

You don't need to get rid of them all. Pick the ones you enjoy and keep them. The rest you can trade away for other pins you enjoy.
 
I think attention has diverted to other new things and Stitch has so many pins it is hard for newer traders to start. Brave, Tangled, Up, etc. have pulled people away from Stitch, or they got tired of trying to get DA LE100 Stitch pins and just gave up and moved on. I mean there are 649 Stitch Disney Auction listings on Pinpics. Tinkerbell only has 319! Stitch is more than double. DSF and WDI both continue to make Stitch pins low LE but there are so many it's overwhelming.
 
just do not do what I did, I started wanting PTN pins got a few about 7-9 of them and then changed my mind and traded them away.... I then decided to collect them again thus making me spend even more money on the ones I had to re-buy...I will tell you now not the best thing I've done lol
 
PAINFUL brutal. horrible. these words describe my decision this week to trade away my small but nice A BUGS LIFE COLLECTION, ROGER RABBIT, THE INCREDIBLES! so long, farewell. they were not close to my heart but remove each pin from my book physically hurt.
 
I don't have a huge collection myself but I consider all my pins traders the only thing is, there are some I love more than others, and it would take something truly spectacular to make me part with them. However part with them I would if I found something I loved more.

I only hold back the ones that have a particular sentimentality for me.

This is great advice. You obviously started collecting Stitch for a reason so there is/was something there that attracted you. If that spark is still there, you will regret parting with them all. So, just pick the ones you love and keep them then use the others as traders for more princesses.

...that being said, I have a small little Stitch collection going with a few more that I'm looking for. If you have any of them, I'd love to give them a new home [shameless plug over :lol: ]
 
Just keep the ones that make you really happy or the ones related to the movie only. If you are a completist like me, then start a new theme like Wreck it Ralph. To get old pins is very difficult and people are not trading much these days. I have notice that different themes come and go in cycles. I remember when everybody want Stitch or Pirates or Villains and now Villains are hot again.
 
I agree though I started with stitch but the feeling for newer pins subsided and went into other areas like UP or Pin Trading night pins from paris. I sold/got rid of quite a lot of the stitch pins I just went for when I first started trading cause when I looked at them they were meh and I thought *why did I get this pin* I kept the ones I searched for but ones I got willy nilly or on a whim I sold or traded away.
 
This makes total sense and you just described what I am feeling but didn't know how to word.
 
This is my fear with regards to BT pins, I was thinking of getting rid of all except BatB and Ariel since they are my main collections, but I have 20/40 and think I might regret it later.
 

yeah, I know about starting newer collections being easier, I have all but 2 brave pins, and all but 2 wreck it ralph so far. I AMA completionists, and I think that's why I need collections like brave and BT and wreck it ralph, because I know I will never complete Ariel or BatB.

i just wish it wasn't as hard to do.
 
I have the same separation anxiety issues with other collections in my life (e.g. I've kept my load of Beanie Babies from earlier years in sealed boxes under beds, in the attic, etc.). But at some point you just have to look forward to what awesomeness lies in front of you for future collecting, and think of how getting rid of some of your collection will propel you forward into new excitement.
 
Honestly, I love Stitch, but as stated earlier, it is too hard to get in the game nowadays and try to collect all the Stitchs, so I really limit myself to Superhero Stitch or any pins of Stitch dressing up as other characters (or time periods, I love the 'In Time' series) or interacting with characters that aren't in Lilo & Stitch. If you ever had any of those, I'd gladly be willing to try and take them off your hands lol xP
 

Ive done exactly the same thing! Traded all my UK pins, and now I am starting form scratch to collect them again. I also started collecting Beloved Tales, then decided against it and traded them. Now Ive decided to give it a go again and its costing me more this time round to obtain pins I once had! Killer!!

Sometimes I put pins on my trades list but cant bear to part with them, they can sit on there for months before I'm prepared to let them go! I'd rather do that though than suffer any regret!
 
Before I found PODMs, I was on a quest on collecting a pin series from Japan. During an auction for one of my first PODMs, I had to think long and hard about letting this series go. For me it was like, imagine trading this series for other pins or another series. Is it worth it? If it's a yes, then you just overload yourself with pictures of the new pins that you might be able to get if you sell/trade your stitch collection away. Then, as Psycho Pixie mentioned, it'll get easier.
