How do you finance your pin purchases
it just depends on whatever is left for me every month, learn to budget and don't buy too many because that's when things get out of hand
I usually try to sell off pins. If it's for a high end purchase I might use my credit card and not use the card till I paid off what I purchase. Sometimes paying off some pins little by little helps me obtain grails. It why I use my credit card. I also look at eBay auctions on a daily basis to see what some people are willing to pay for particular pins I want. Then I can gage how much to save when the pins come around again either on eBay or here on DPF. Whatever I do I set a limit to what I am willing to pay by having a general idea how much some pins are worth and I try my hardest to find a deal to stay with in my limit. I've also haggled a little because sometimes people who are selling pins are collectors themselves and can be more understanding to make a deal. If I see someone selling a pin that is priced way higher than an eBay price then I will ask them if they would be willing to sell it to me for that price. Or I've even asked if I had anything in my traders that they wanted so maybe we can do a half trade and have money deal just to lower the price. You never know till you ask right? It's all about budgeting, timing, and patience. Overall I try my hardest to trade first before resorting to shelling out money. If I try a few times to trade and the fish aren't biting then I know my best chance of getting a certain pin is to purchase it.
I work hard and use my callback(overtime) money to fund my pin purchases. So far I have been disciplined enough to not go overboard. I have never sold a pin and have only traded less than 50. Minus the CM trades of course.
I will definitely have to cut back once my wife receives a transplant though. I will have to live in a hotel for a couple of months as well as maintain my current home.
Paying down my credit card is my financial priority. Then comes upping my 401K to 10% of my earnings, then savings for major bumps. I've been trapped in the house with less shifts, and shorter hours on the shifts I do get, and so I've fallen victim to wanting more and more pins, and buying a few. My goal has been to put $250 every two weeks into my credit card; this month and the last I've slacked off!!!! It's not a crisis, because the goal was to hit it hard so it would be all clear for the new year; it's just I have to regain my focus. I have to give myself a little bit of spending money, or else I start going crazy hahaha, and the one big paycheck I do get, I spend too much of it instead of putting it towards my financial health! I allow myself between $30 and $50 for pins per paycheck; this also includes money for gas if I decide to drive up to Disneyland or the Soda Fountain (which is about $25).
...pray there is enough money in the account? LOL!
