Ok, so I've been trading since I was little but only seriously trading and online trading since the start of the year but I still haven't had ANY luck tracking down a trade for any of my grail pins.

My number one grail pin isn't even in my signature as I don't think I will ever even see a picture of it let alone own it. It's this pin:

I just wondered how long it took all of you to get your first grail pin? I want to do the grail dance

Am I setting my hopes too high with what I am looking for?

Advice and your experiences required!!!
 
Hmm good question!!

My major first grail was this lovely Jasmine pin -->

I even remember seeing in a DS UK when it was released but was too shy to buy it!! I then bought it on Ebay from a seller years later who ran off with my money then 2 traders promised to trade and sell to me but never ever got back to me.

Then the following year I started to look at the people who were trading this pin's wants, and bought this pin on Ebay to trade it for


And I got it. Then at the same time I had won this pin another trader who was also trading the Jasmine pin said 'yes' to another trade that I had sent to them - so I miraculously ended up with 2 of the Jasmine UK Heart Pins at the same time!!! I kept them both

I would say this pn took me 2 and a half years to get but then I had bad luck along the way.

I hope you get your Buzz pin soon, though. It will show up!!
 
Aww wow! Sorry to hear that you lost out a few times on it! I have the Ariel version I bought in stores yeaaaars ago when it came out and its a lovely pin so I can see why you wanted it!

Super glad to hear you managed to get it in the end though!

When I got the Pascal in my "top wants" I ended up getting two at the same time as well xD Maybe pins are like buses?

Yeah, it does seem like some pins are way more difficult than others to get. My first grail was that Mary Poppins bag and umbrella and I got that after a few months of trading. But they do tend to turn up from time to time so I just had to wait to catch the next one. With a pin that you don't see at all, all I can say is ugh!! Good luck! Maybe one will turn up for you soon
 
I'm still awaiting finally landing my first grail after being in trading aand collecting for almost 9 years. I've landed other grails, but that very first one that I classified as a grail still eludes me. So don't get discouraged as it will ccome when you least expect it!
 
My first grail was the Golden Poppy from the Grand California Hotel. I saw a few selling for $50 and then pounced on one for around $22 a few months later. Now I have 2. Next was a Star Tours Piece of History Cast Member only LE750. I saw a bunch going for $75-$90 and after a few months got one for $40. The WDW is still one of my top grails. My other grail, now considered my holy grail I suppose, is the 5th Anniversary of the Grand California Hotel. It's one of only a handful I don't have for the hotel. I've seen 1 for sale on eBay in the last 18 months and never one in person. One was rumored to be in a room during room hopping at the Disneyana show for sale for $6 but I never saw it. Someday I'm sure I'll find it and the person won't even think it's that great, but it is currently my most wanted.
 
My all time grail, as of NOW :rofl:, is the Jessica in Brazil and I am having a VERY hard time getting my hands on it! A few months ago one sold on ebay for approx. $70 and at that time, I was "NEVER going to spend that much on a pin!!!" :lol: It to me a little over half a year to get one of my grails though (and I would not have if it would not have been for the extraordinary Disneydreamer!) which is the DLRP Jumbe Jessica Pin Trading Night pin!!! I ADORE it, can not wait to get it displayed!!! Out of my top four, I was able to get one, and am not sure if I will ever get the other three, lmao!
 
Oh, and like many others on here, I was not able to trade for the one grail I did acquire. In fact, I have still not been able to do a trade at all so far! LOL! And Jessica in Brazil is both my HOLY grail and my first grail!
 
My first major grail was:

Pin 27870: WDW - This is Love - Sleeping Beauty Forest

It took me about 3 1/2 years to obtain, and that was me actively seeking it. I ended up trading with Xiolen on here! I was super uber stocked. :3
 
It took me about 2 years to get Jumbo Jessica as Ursula but because Rapunzel got so popular I was able to trade for it. My Vanessa grails took about 2 years total to slowly get all of them. Sometimes it just takes some patience and time to get the pins you really need. Keep searching and I know you'll find it/them.
 
I initially set my bar kinda low; when I was making my sig, I put a bunch in that I really wanted, but I stretched the definition of "grail" since some of them weren't all that hard to get (I didn't have a huge sense of how hard things are to find). They're less "grails" than "most wanteds" really. I fell in love with the AiW mystery tea set, and within my first few weeks here, someone had a few of them for sale.

I've got all but one of those now, and it's the LE 25 (Mad Hatter teapot), so that really is the first pin I think I've truly considered a grail. Maybe someday...
 
Still trying to find my top grail pins......Beloved Tales Mulan and designer princess Mulan. I think it will take me forever!
 

Yes it is a beautiful set, I now own them all. Those were the days when UK Pins were £3!

Lol how funny, we wait for grails and several appear at the same time!

The Buzz pin is Japanese, I will have a look out for it as I have ways of getting pins from Japan but it is difficult.
 
My first grail ever was

it took me about four months after I started to get serious about pins. I didn't have that many good pins so no one would trade it with me. Then we discovered my D pins and my awesome boyfriend bought it for me I was so freakin happy
 

What are D pins? Lol, I feel stupid!
 
My first ever grail was the Designer Princess Aurora It was always in the back of my mind, but it didn't really become a grail until I got into serious pin trading again, after a long break, a few months ago. Needless to say, Aurora has now been in my collection for about a month now and I couldn't be happier Thankfully, the Designer Princesses were a pretty popular co-op item, so everything just fell into place and I got help from amazing people! My current grails are the rest of the Designer Princesses. I'm currently working on paying for Belle and Snow White, but Rapunzel would be a huge grail to get someday. My other top grail is the Aurora reveal/conceal. I'm kinda low on funds rights now due to college (ughhhh) but I'm just going to be patient and keep my eye out. Maybe I'll get some money for my birthday coming up soon that I can spend
 
I started collecting marquees in the month of may. I didn't have a holy grail until the Tangled PODM release when I saw the Tangled marquee on wyllieam's (Amy) lanyard and I decided that day that the Tangled marquee was my holy grail. That pin at the time was like voldemort, you didn't speak of its name and I ended up getting it the following day from Catburger. Lol so it only took me a day to get my holy grail.

I have been collecting almost 3 years and I still do not have mine. I have 2 Sleeping Beauty grails. I missed them both on Ebay twice each
