Ok, so were going to D-World in May. Saving up now and thinking, gee, how will I get my pins to D-World?

We are in California, so going on the plane is the fastest route. (yes, as we get closer, I will get whatever anyone needs. :-))

So, can I take a binder full of disney pins in my carry on luggage or is there some safety issue, that I have to check them?

Is there a limit to how many I can take in a carry on, if I am allowed too?

I am not asking about weight or size restrictions. I am just asking about the pins, since they do have the sharp backs.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Vicki

I have taken pins in my carry on plenty of times. Usually, I don't have a lot and I put them in a clear ziploc bag and remove it from the bigger bag and put it in a bin. They will take a brief look in the bin, see what it is and that's it; no questions. When I have carried a larger bag, I have also removed it from the carryon and put it in the bin. They will ask to see it, and after the first glance then they like to look through it to see all the pins :) On the way home, I usually just put them in my checked bag. My new pins end up in a popcorn container. Sometimes there is a customs form in the suitcase, sometimes not. I haven't had any trouble with disappearing pins.

I have carried a pin bag as my personal item on the plane. Nothing was said to me on either trip.
Have a magical trip and happy trading!!

We usually take everything carry on. TSA will go through them and make some comments, but they seem to be used to it. No safety issues. We will usually bring 3-4 bags for the group of us. Have fun!

You won't have a problem. I have traveled to pin events in Orlando, Chicago, and Atlanta this year and brought two large pin bags in my carry on luggage. TSA only asked once to look into my bags. You can be proactive as suggested by Hopemax and put your pin bags in a separate plastic tub on the conveyer belt at the security check. Happy trading!

Thank you everyone. I was really worried about this and could not imagine not having pins at D-World.

Since I only started trading a couple years ago, I have never traded at D-World before, so this will be exciting. Somewhere on this forum is the detailed information of where to trade, and I already printed it out. :-)

Now, I have had other family members trade for me at D-World. :-) That was fun! They had no clue what they were doing, but my neices totally loved it. Gave them some basic pins, and told them to trade with cast members. They now have their own little collection. lolol

Thanks again everyone!!!!

I went to WDW from SoCal this past September (out of Ontario) and brought two pin bags of traders. TSA didn't even blink, didn't ask to look at them, nothing. Same thing flying back from Orlando (I'm sure they see pin bags a LOT). I was advised to not ship mine, so it was a pain carrying them (heavy), but whatever, I had them with me, no problems from any TSA person. Have a great time!

There is an episode of the Pincast where John Rick talks about this. He's on this forum, so if you want more info, you can try emailing him here or at the facebook page. I remember him saying he REFUSES to check any luggage with pins in it. So he has his system down.

i agree with everyone, i just got back from WDW and had two small trader bags and one big bag,,,all in my carry on. No problems or questions, TBH i didnt even think about it. I knew i didnt want them in checked luggage....lol by sweetheart was like "you dont care if the computer and all our clothes get stolen or lost just the pins"! YUP.

The airlines usually don't give you any trouble, especially in Orlando. They are used to people coming and going with bags of pins. I flew with some for my daughter and didn't have any trouble. As it gets closer to lift off let me know and I'll drive up for the day.

We just got back on saturday...and had several bags in our carry on plus lanyards with pins on them and TSA didn't say anything at all...we didn't even take them out of our bag
