*******Thank you! Check out post #8 for a pic of the loot ;)

Hi guys!
I got a super sweet deal on a lanyard of pins at Bookman's today (a used book store/thrift shop) and I need your help! Almost all the pins have locking pin backs... the not so awesome kind that Disney sells... and I do not have the little tool to unscrew them. I am also nervous because I know that type of back can damage the pin post. I have never encountered these before so I am wondering...Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to effectively and safely remove the backs?

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!! :D

you need a very small allen wrench to get them off if that is the kind that are on the lanyard

yep, that is right. I hate those things. If you have a store that sells tools take one with you and check to be sure that it fits the locks. If I remember correctly there are 2 sizes of them. So take a close look at them and if you have 2 sizes take them both with you. You don't want to make 2 trips if you can avoid it.

Any hardware store will remove it ,if asks..mine did and I bought the allen wrench he used ,so I have one now

A little off topic, but what are the pins of ? I am always curious what pins people find outside of the park and online !

I have several extra tiny allen wrenches if you need one. Not sure if it will fit your pin backs. I bought my locking pin backs on-line. Let me know.

Thank you everyone for your help :D
My handy boyfriend had a tiny allen wrench lying around and removed them all for me. He's such a keeper! Here is a pic of my winnings.

20 + pins, a lanyard, and that castle lanyard keychain thing for $22! Hooray! There are a few non Disney pins in there (I love the unicorn!) and one or two are damaged, but overall I feel successful. I love finding deals!
