I thanked God that I lived NO WHERE NEAR the DSF. My children would swear we were homeless and I would have NO time for anything else in life.....good grief these pins they come out with! Phew!

Hahaha me too! I'm kind of happy that I can enjoy watching the panic (jk haha) but also sad (if I wanted a pin). The release have only been getting crazier and crazier though... I think it was the Brave pins that started all these campouts thereafter.

I can't be in any more agreement lol xP It is great for our wallets knowing that we won't want to attend every release, however, if there is a pin we really want *cough Tangled BT *cough* it is impossible for us to get it without dropping $200 or more on it I almost feel like if you lived by DSF you could fatten your wallet by selling these pins lol xD

I mean think about this most recent one, here are the prices I find they go for:

BT Stitch x2 - $120
BT Beantstalk x2 - $40
BT Mr Toad x2 - $40
BT Detective x2 - $40
BT Tangled x1 - $240
Tangled Surprise x1 - $100

Right there you have $580 dollars worth of pins for pins that together just pass $100. I mean sure if you wanted to keep some for yourself it might end up differently (specifically if you wanted to keep the Tangled pins) but for those who don't, it can't really hurt to live by DSF if you're tight on money haha xD Especially around Valentine's day lol

EDIT: lol I just thought of sharing a condo with all of you pin traders just around this time of year so we could attend these 2 release haha (DSF tends to release great Valentine's pins...look at the UP Pin set) around February xD That'd be like what, 10 people mashed into a tiny condo O___O

Was it the Brave release that started popularity with the marquees? I remember when no one seemed to care about these unless it was a special title... Just curious when they became so popular...

When Up went for $500 the first time it seemed like everyone thought they were made if gold and after that happened

I would love to visit DSF and get an ice cream and a pin or two, but there's no way I could camp out for releases. Yet I know if MerlinEmrys and I were there, we would probably find ourselves in line for wristbands at some point. I think that living so close, it would be hard to not get swept up in the hype.

It went for $400 in late March of 2012. Before that Up marquee sold, and even shortly after, the Tangled marquee was only $150-$175. Then the Avengers release and Brave releases had decent marquee's for resale. From that point on we went from 4 or 5 hardcore marquee collectors to 25+. The next PTN everyone was scrounging for marquee's and noone would trade them. Everyone thought the Brave marquee was going to be the huge money maker. Noone saw Up BT coming a month later. Brave was also the first new pixar movie with a marquee since Tangled so everyone was thinking it was gonna be a Tangled marquee worthy-like pin. But then we all saw Brave and now we know it's only a $75-$80 marquee at best and a mediocre movie. Then again, I think Wreck-it Ralph is the best movie they've done in a while and should rival Tangled/Up but not everyone agrees. To each their own. I haven't acquired a new marquee for my collection since probably Sept'12 (other than new ones for sale at DSF.) I gave up. Too many people willing to pay insane amounts with money they got from flipping DSF pins, WDI pins, or Designer Villains or what every they are flipping. I'm off to collect PTD's now, hopefully they don't go crazy like marquee's until I get way closer to completion. I sure wont' be saving the hardest for last like I did with the marquee's. Learned that lesson once, once was enough.

Wow, interesting info... I never really watch the sales of the pins I have, and wasn't really active in the forums, so missed out on all the fun...

I still can't believe the last 2 Up marquees sold for $744 and $695... (And there's one up now for $888).

But still, it's an LE150 Up pin, that's part of it's value... Not that it's a marquee... Interesting that it helped make the collection so popular...
I forgot about the Avengers release... I guess with that, Brave and the high-dollar Up auctions it makes sense that people would take notice.
