Accidents happen, dont beat yourself up to much over it you didnt mean to do it
 
May I suggest a way to take the pic that I used for mine? Put the pin in a window, on the ledge orwhere the latch is, while its daylight, but on the shady side of yourhome, no direct sun. You get the cel showing nice,without the harsh light around the pin making it dark.
 
See if you can find someone in FL to get you a PODM - they apparently still have them (as of Friday afternoon)

As a long time photographer (back when we used film) and movie projectionist, I can sadly tell you that there is no cure for cooked film. Modern computer programs MAY enable you to salvage a print of the image (doubtful at best unless very lightly - no pun intended, damaged), but the negative itself is history. This is also slowly happening to any unpreserved film negatives of family photos as they age. So if you want to preserve them for the ages be sure to get them properly scanned onto a true achival storage disc, or regularily recheck the typical computer CD/DVD - which can go bad in as little as 5-10 years.

Just a thought! Does your friend have the receipt - maybe you could return it as damaged (shark swimming!!) LoL!!!! No, seriously, I am only kidding!

Lesson learnt though for a lot of members!!
