I have officially decided that I will stick to trading through here only. for now and forever and always.

I had a trade set up where I was going to trade my WDI portrait of Aurora for the Snow White marquee and was so beyond excited!! Finally going to get my hands on my second most wanted Snow White pin and couldn't be happier. Got the trade all set up, swapped tracking numbers and everything, put Aurora in the mail box, aaaannddd.... two weeks later- nothing.

They got their pin- tracking says it got there... but nothing on my end... the worst part, and I guess my own issue, is that they deleted the direct message thread so I can't remember their username, and the tracking just says pre-shipment or something weird like that aka, not in the USPS system.

Totally screwed.

I can't decide if I'm more upset about losing Aurora or that I'm not getting Snow...

Either way, I'm done with Instagram trading I think... This sucks :(

That stinks! I am sorry and hope they are just slow and it shows up still. I didn't know there was trading on Instagram...

Thats what I was hoping too until I went to try and find the original picture of the marquee that I'd seen and it's gone, which leads me to believe they've deleted their account. Live and learn I guess...
trading on there isn't nearly as popular as it is here or on pinpics but there's a bunch of it. Not really a way to check references or anything...

I'm sorry that happened to you. Someone told me about Instagram pin trading awhile back. I followed a few people and it seemed no one could follow thru with their trades. It all seemed shady to me. I unfriended everyone and wrote that app off, as far as pin trading goes.

I feel your pain. I lost a high end pin not to long. You have to take every percussion possible, even here. I've learned you have to ask as many questions as possible, ask to see pics, and if it is a high caliber pin, get signature confirmation, not just tracking.

So sorry to hear about your situation. I wasn't ever really fond about Instagram trading. I was going to have a crack at it but never did because my gut instinct was telling me not to.

I'm really sad to here this. In some ways we as a community have set ourselves up for this kind of scamming. We have set such high secondary market value on some of these pins that only retailed for around $15 and not just pin sharks, but sharks in general have seen what lengths we'll go to to get these "high end" pins that people take advantage of us. Until we stop marking up the pin prices value ourselves we're going to fall prey to the users, scammers, frauds and sharks. I hope that you do file mail fraud charges against this person, because until we left them know that we're not going to be victims the will always have the power.

Ive seen a few people trading and selling on Instagram. I was always curious about it but wouldnt do it for this very reason. There is no way to get your money back and its not regulated. Sorry you got scammed.

So sorry this happened to you! I hope you can find Snow, one day. I'm sure lots of people here will help.

I don't trade through Instagram for this reason. The fact that someone can just remove all messages, including on your end, is not reassuring.

Its so true! It amazes me how pins can be purchased for one price and sold, 30 seconds later for 5 times what was paid to get it... It bums me out... I understand why it happens, but it doesn't mean I agree with it.

Wow that really sucks. I haven't traded/bought any pins yet but now I know to stay away from Instagram.

I made several trades through there prior to this and everything went off without a hitch, some even with other DPF members, which is kind of cool, haha. and then this... there are always bad eggs. :(

I am so sad to hear this! And so sad that this person has soured your Instagram experience. I have recently started traded on Instagram and have had nothing but good experiences. Have probably made like 20+ trades on there. I always try to be very cautious and cover all my bases, but I guess this is a warning that I have to be even more cautious,

I am so sorry that someone took advantage if you. Awful that someone would do that and ruin the fun! Really wish I knew the persons username!

So sorry to hear this happened :( I really hope that this gets worked out and the jerk scammer is called out or hit with some sort of warning/fine for the fraud.

I also trade on Instagram and so far haven't had a bad experience outside of younger traders taking a long time to ship or sending pins in regular envelopes. Even still, it's a gamble every time and seeing occurrences like this worries me :(
