Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you all a heads up of this app that can manage your Disney pin collections. It's free for managing book collections but the "Disney Pins" collection part is $5.99 in-app purchase. You can add it on by going to the Switch tab on the right of the app. Kind of pricey for an app.

I don't think I can post URLs on here yet, but search iTunes App Store for "Collectors" and its the first one with the blue icon and it's free to download.

I have been using it for managing my pins and so far so good. The database is pretty thin but when you add a pin it adds it to their database. Just thought I'd share because I like the app and I haven't seen anything else like it yet.

I've seen something like it. It's called Pinpics. It's free to join and control your pins. You can even do trade request that usually do not get many results but its worth a shot when that 1 trade does work out. Maybe if you feel like it, you can donate on the once a year asking so it can stay free.

Oh and its members add to the database for free.

Maybe request to Pinpics to make an app?

Totally agree, but an phone app would be of great use when walking around the parks etc or at trade events just to check pin details ect. Now a Pinpics app would be heaven - great thought!!

I've often thought about making an app, but I just don't have the expertise on the networking and database accessing side of things. Who ever maintains the code for the site and the servers is really the only person who would know how to access the data in code. Or at least, I presume it's like that. I'm just a games programmer :P

Yeah, an app would be great, as I'm often seen walking around clutching bits of paper that I've scribbled incoherent pin-notes on :')

When i was at the Disneyana event last weekend, the pinpics people were there! it was cool to talk to them in person. I asked about an iphone app and he said they have been looking into it, but they do not have the money to get it going. They were wondering if people would pay for the app and said i'm pretty sure we would ;) If anyone has connection in the app world, they should contact the pinpics peeps! They want to make it happen!

I've made an app for collecting hidden mickeys and vinylmations with pics of the pins so no wifi required. Problem is Disney blocked it and I got nowhere. Problem is the network access sucks and is very slow so a pinpics app would be difficult to run there. Pinpics planned an app that would pull in pin values from eBay and BST ads on the forums but never got off the ground.

How did Disney block it? And BST?

Instead of carrying a paper around, one can cut and past their Wants and Trades to an email and send it to yourself. Or to a Word file to open on an Adode file on your phone and they are clickable to go to Pinpics.

Most of the time you should know your Want list by heart? Trade list is a different question. Now for that pin that caught your eye, fast reliable Internet at Disney would be nice.

Well if you look at my wants list there would be no chance for me to remember ALL of my wants by heart would be rather hard. There are 1323 pins that I want and I haven't even gone through all of pin pics or even looked at the latest pins that are uploaded. That is a lot of pins.

Is there an Android version? If Pinpics made one that would work on an Android phone, I would gladly pay for it. I have gotten duplicate pins several times, so the savings from there would more than pay for the app.

I guess I just cheat...I simply access the web and use pinpics directly with my iPhone...

Yeah so do I but most parts of Disney I at least lose 3G iPhone service and it goes to a slow no service.. Same thing like when I am in Walmart - too much overhead power. + they don't want you to check rival prices with that price guarantee they have now.

Apple won't allow any apps with Disney content without Disney permission. Apparently a pic or two is ok, but 1100 pictures of pins set up a flag. They required I ask Disney for permission to approve my app. Disney denied.
BST = Buy, Sell, Trade.

i was going to ask if this was ur app. I remember u talking about it a while back. Have u had a chance to check this new one out and see if its any thing like what u were doing??

My app has pictures embedded in the app itself, so no wifi is required. You could use an iPod touch or an iPad without 3G. I believe picturers of the pins are essential so you know what you're looking for and if you really like it or not. I have seen other apps for collectibles where you create your own database essentially. It's different, and 3 times what I planned to ask for price.

What about making it something 'generic'... Like a 'Pin collecting app' where the user can enter in any kinds of pins they like to collect.... No association to Disney, or Warner Bros, or anyone else that makes pins...

Then, while you are in the app, you can somehow select that you want to collect 'DLR' pins, and the app then loads a database of images and info from some location (PinPics if they'd allow it, otherwise some other location you arrange)...

That way the submitted app has no copyrighted content, and can even be used for non-Disney collecting. But you can download an off-line collection of pins to view in places with lousy connectivity...

If you want to charge something for the app, charge for the app itself (not the database download)... And I guess that database would have to be created by someone (or arrangements made with PinPics)...

Just a thought tho. If there's issues with submitting a 'Disney app', then make a generic app that the user can tailor to their desires... (which might just happen to be Disney...)
