Just out of curiosity...how many Artist Proofs does a pin typically have? I see two people are trading the Artist Proof of 90887 and Laz just wrote that he has one as well?

I have an Artist Proof of
pin86452
and was just wondering how many others might be out there? :)

For park pins that's the general ballpark. For other sourced pins (DSF, WDI, DA or DS.com) there can be far less. Sometimes only 1 (for DA/DS.com APs/prototypes are generally LE1-4.).

As I am reading this, there are specific questions. Has anyone actually received a DSF AP or PP first hand? Actually bought the pin in the store and turned it to see a marking or are these all second hand trading/buying?

On a random day when a pin came out I bumped into Jabberwocky and at the register I asked Patty this exact question. Does DSF make AP's or PP's? She is a pin designer and I believe it was Alex? At the time in charge of pins. Patty specifically stated that DSF does not make AP's or PP's. What they do get are samples that have clear smooth backings with no post. Just a front design for sample inspection before a final run is made. These are few - about 3-4 pins. They never reach the sales floor and are never viewed by the public. There are about 5-10 pins made above the LE limit amount. These are for display as the ones they show us in the shadow box for preview. They do not have a marking stating that they are AP's or PP's. Alex gave me one because of a mixup on a DVD preorder that I had. No markings. I also contacted. Matt from Pinpics with this question. The only information that he had was the information I have him as he wondered the same thing. The Pinpic listings that we talked about are posted by members that no longer are registered members. Their emails have no relies to verify/disclaim their listings.

I was on the hunt for DSF AP's and PP's but they do not exist. I would really like to see a LE frame opened to see an actual picture of the backing of the pin.

Good luck with this hunt and don't everyone call Patty all at once or hound her at DSF. And don't pay $$ until you actually have the correct information on any pin or over trade because it says AP or PP.

Just a side note. On any release when everyone openes their pins, I have never heard anyone say "I have a.....".
