Hey everyone,

I am very new to pin collecting and have been acquiring various Pascal pins for my collection. I recently purchased the Pascal with a sorcerer hat WDI pin from someone that I am under the impression of is a very reliable seller. However, the pin has what I would consider to be some issues that are typically associated with fake pins such as dips in the enamel. I would greatly appreciate some other opinions from some more seasoned pin collectors, especially if you have delt with these specific types of pins before.

Thank you for you time.

I'm certainly no expert, but comparing the front and back to images from Pin & Pop, this looks authentic to me. Besides enamel dips, are there other characteristics that lead you to question its authenticity?

Thanks again for taking the time to look.

No, the enamel was the only thing that made me doubt the authenticity. I made a post on reddit about it and multiple people said it was definitely fake because the back stamp did not reach the edge but everything that I have seen of this series, the stamp never touches the edges. It looks the same as the one on mypincentral to me.
And, thanks for the welcome!

I do not recall this pin being one of the WDI Characters with Sorcerer Hats being faked. I can also see the notches in the Sorcerer Hat backstamp that is a typical tell for the pins that have been faked.

All pins will have some portion of their production run with dips in the enamel. And yes, often backstamps don't run to the edge.

The backstamp not running to the edge is something traders get wrong. So if that was the criteria the reddit users had for their conclusions, those opinions are not reliable.

Agree all pins can have production falls like paint dips. Need additional poor quality flags to build a stronger fake case .
