Buongiorno everyone:wavey:
I have a question about pins from Japan, if anyone even knows....I know they used to have those Japan Mall pins and things like that and I was wondering if they still sell pins in Japan (besides at the disney resort there) and if anyone knows where at. My dad is a pilot and goes there on trips often and was just wondering if they had them where he went and whay kinds of places sold them there. If anyone knows about that the info would be very much appreciated! :bowdown:
 
My dad has a trip next month and there are disney stores close to his hotels and I am going to try to go with him!!!And maybe get some cool pins!!! So excited!
 
Most of the time he flys into Narita, sometimes Osaka and Nagoya. His layovers are usually a day, but on his trips he is gone for like 10 days or so and flies over to japan then once hes there he flys back and forth from japan to like guam, saipan, and other places over there. So while he is going somewhere else for a day I can stay at the hotel in japan and play
 
The only bad thing about Narita is that it's a pretty good distance from Tokyo itself. But if you have Disney stores nearby, what else do you need, right?

I've been 4 different times and I love Tokyo! Shibuya is my favorite area to hang out. Would like to go back sometime this year, but not sure if we will make a trip or not. My wife works for Continental, so we can enjoy the flight benefits as well. What airline does your dad fly for?
 
Yeah, hopefully (if my and my sister can get on the flight and actually make it there) we can take the train into tokyo. She has gone with him before but didnt get to go into the city. but since we will be together it wont be as scary My dad works for Delta, the benifits are nice! esp being able to fly first class! but even if we get stuck in coach being the captains daughters we still get first class treatment!
 
Yeah, first class is the way to go. Especially for an almost 14-hour flight (it's that long from Houston at least). We always plan our trips based on our chances of getting these seats. You definitely have to be flexible with your travel dates if you fly standby.

Tokyo is extremely safe, but it's easy to get lost if you have no idea how the trains work. It is a HUGE city! It's definitely best to go on your first trip with someone who has been there before. But once you get a general idea of where everything is and how the trains work, it's an absolute breeze getting anywhere you want to go. I love their mass-transit system there.

Oh! If you like sweet potatoes, definitely look for a Rappopo inside any of the train stations. They make the BEST sweet potato pies and desserts! I mean, crazy good! They don't have an English website, unfortunately, but here is the Japanese site: http://www.shirohato.com/rapoppo/index.htm If you happen to see one, definitely stop and try something. Damn, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. :drool:
 
Awww i am so jealous, i am going to find a lover or make a family member work for delta or continental to i can travel all the time to: Paris, California, and tokyo, hint hint, there is something amazing in those places.
 
dont forget Hong Kong! I'm gunna need to get me a lover who works for them as well because now that I'm out of school I dont as good as priority anymore so it makes it harder to actually get a seat on standby.....Or I will take a sugar daddy who has a private jet who can take me those places lol

And I will def have to keep my eyes open for those sweet potatoe pies...those sound amazing!!

Do they pin trade in TDL? I'll be out there (& Hong Kong) next year - in the planning stage now so any tips would be helpful, where to stay near the parks etc etc. Also planning a tour of China to take in the wall, terracotta army - a lot of leg work & a lot of planning to be done. We're going just as the London Olympics finishes.
 

Hey Chris. Unfortunately, I've never had a chance to visit TDL during my trips, so I really have no experience as far as where to stay near the park. Sounds like another PM to Wally (tokyodisneydad) is in order!

And I would love to visit China as well! Another country on my list of places I dearly want to visit.
 
They used to have pin trading, in the early 2000s. But like a lot of things Disney, the Japanese took to pin trading a little too well. I guess they had so many people with bags and such, that it looked like a street market. So they discontinued trading. I guess you aren't even supposed to wear a lanyard with pins on display there.
 
hey! high-five...my dad works for delta too! he's a flight attendant though, but he's international. i know he's flown to japan once or twice before, wouldn't it be cool if they've flown together?
