Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
Anyone has a extra frozen "Harrods" set let me know can pay or trade. I have a spare set of all the designer series.

I believe the market for such things in the UK is actually quite strong... recently, someone on eBay sold the LE 17'' Tiana, Belle and Blonde Rapunzel dolls- they sold for around £260 each, with Belle even reaching £306. I know that those amounts when converted are not anywhere near to the going prices in dollars!

So the doll market in the UK is larger than people think- and because we receive so little stock, we fall over ourselves trying to get them on eBay and at retail during the times when they ARE available! The Harrods set really tells this story, and hopefully Disney learns a lesson... THE UK LIKES DOLLS TOO!

Still, the Harrods doll set price point was just complete and utter greed... it kinda puts me off dolls altogether :/

I can understand that PrincessxJasmine89! I'm starting to get all dolled out myself. I'm starting to want to collect something else that isn't so hard to get. Plus, the number of released dolls this year is 11 in total (including the LE 100 Frozen set and DFDC). That is just way to expensive and I have a feeling they will be making more dolls next year. I'm thinking of really limited myself on what I buy next year. I probably will not buy any designers next year (unless my sister wants Aurora&Philip) and I think the only other doll I want would be, if they make a 17" Maleficent. It is just getting to expensive and it seems to just be getting more and more ridiculous every year.

Warning; long post ahead, I have a lot of ~feelings~ to share...

1) I don't think anyone really feels that these dolls are a matter of life/death, and yeah, maybe we come off as too melodramatic sometimes, but really if we can't be obsessive/passionate about Disney LE dolls HERE, in a thread specifically targeted towards the dolls, where can we be? I like coming here to blow off steam and finding other collectors feeling the same way. Makes me feel a little less alone about doll collecting and less of an oddball for doing it.

2) From a purely business standpoint, I'd like to applaud Disney for the Harrods LE 100 set idea. There IS a market for deep-pocketed collectors (of which, alas, I do not count myself) who can afford and want luxury dolls. I've honestly been waiting for Disney to somehow tap better into this market, because frankly, I would much rather this money go to Disney (who then will make more/better dolls), than to scalpers. Honestly, I knew as soon as I saw them that there would be buyers from the forum who would be willing to go for them. And with prices for LE Snow and LE Alice being what they are, it was really a matter of time before Disney went after this market.

3) That being said? Disney was really really lazy about this particular set. I can only speak personally, but for that amount of money, I think they should have gone with different outfits completely. They basically asked people to pay for a few extra crystals. Your mileage may vary on this; I know I would personally have at least considered it had it been truly unique and not just a little jazzed up.

4) From a consumer perspective? As someone who winces every time I fork over $100 + tax + duties + shipping for the "regular" LE dolls, I feel peeved that they obviously didn't go all out for the regular version as a matter of principle rather than specifically for these dolls (the differences for Anna are really minor actually, and I don't like the clip on Elsa's head, though the extra bling on her dress is nice). On the other hand, no one is holding a gun to my head to buy these either, so if this becomes a trend, I can always vote with my wallet.

tl-dr version; Polaris, I echo the sentiments of others on the forum, I'd love to see the photos once you have the dolls!

I posted more pics on page 85 of the frozen merch post,
The Harrods dolls are expensive simply cause it harrdos, Harrods is a very expensive place! lol

However these dolls are simply stunning, I wish i couldve bought a set for me too but this ones to help out another member here.

Hello everyone, long time lurker poking her head out of the woodwork here. I'm one of the people who's pretty bummed out about the dolls not getting released today as I have Mondays off (how perfect right?), however I have a morning class on the 20th that I absolutely cannot skip D: I would always rather pick them up in store than have to deal with international shipping, but there's no telling if there will be any left by the time I get there. Which is basically my long winded way of asking: has anyone been able to order a doll at midnight, pick up a doll in store, and then successfully cancel the online order? I'd like to cover my bases, but I also remember hearing about someone who got stuck with a whole bunch of Erics and Ursulas - I think my credit card would spontaneously combust!

Any help much appreciated!

For myself, the 2 times that I have done that (Cinderella and Ariel) I have ended up with a second doll because the disney store has refused to cancel them. Just my experience though

I definitely agree with you in that yes there is a market in the UK and yes it is large as I never doubted that but I still think it is nowhere near as big as the US, yes the UK market may be growing but at the same time the US market is growing as well by and by a bigger amount than the US. So it is a tough call because as much as Disney does not want to increase their edition sizes significantly they have to try to ensure they split the stock proportionally across the UK and the US. I am assuming that based on sales and market research they develop a percentage and from there determine how many dolls will be sold in the UK and how many in the US.

Also the US ships worldwide whereas the UK does not so proportionally speaking the US market is the rest of the world including the Euro market whereas the UK is just the Euro market. So really the Euro market is lucky because you have two chances at getting these dolls.

But at least you are lucky in that you at least have a chance to get the dolls within your country where shipping is free. I don't even have that opportunity in fact not very many countries do, heck even Canada which neighbors the US has to pay shipping costs that can be rather expensive.

However in relation to this Harrods exclusive set I can understand why Disney decided to sell it in the UK as they probably had an agreement with Harrods and the main Harrods store is in London so I guess it was just part in the parcel that it would be there. Also it did take four days for the set to sell out (as it started selling on Friday), I am pretty sure if this was in the US it would have sold out before the weekend was through. That being said I am grateful it was in the UK because it just gave me more of a chance to get them. LOL I honestly have mixed feelings about this release but I just hope Disney does not do this again (which I highly doubt will be the case).

I completely agree with what you just said. It really comes down to the collector and what they are willing to spend on these items. But like you if this trend continues I may have to start collecting something else because it is getting rather expensive and as much as I love this Disney collection I like being able to have money to spend on other things too.

I am getting a PS4 and also some sideshow figures so that is another $800 I have to fork up . I think I just need to stop spending haha. But in all fairness I did earn my money and can spend it as I choose but sometimes I just need someone to tell me to stop haha.

I told my partner the other day that I may be getting addicted to pins and he was like "no way, are you kidding me?!", he was only joking but in a way he was trying to tell me that he can handle the dolls but probably not the pins haha.

So I was thinking about a lot of you guys were a little bummed about Anna not being in her snow gear, and I bet that when they do a surprise release when the DVD and Bluray comes out (Because you know that they will) it will most likely be of Anna in that outfit. That's what makes the most sense to me anyway

Elsa seems to had a pearly-shining skin... so gorgeous detail!

It makes me wonder what the future holds for the lovely 17' dolls. Can you imagine if this was for the little mermaid release that was only a few weeks ago. Maybe they were just testing the water with frozen as its a new movie and only 100 pieces so the knew they'd eventually sell out.

Its crazy when you think all this stemmed from 1 photo that someone took. I mean let's remember their was no advertising for this doll in any stores or online so all the hype from here and Facebook is what helped this doll be so sought after and sell out. I've seen at least 10 people from a mixture of on here and the Facebook limited dolls page wanting one but it's now sold out. Disney must be thinking Christmas has come early for them.

It can be done with preorders, because you have usually a few months to put in and for disneystore.com to act on a cancellation request. But if it's for a same-day release like for the frozen dolls then no. Customer service will put in a request for the shipping dept for stop the order, but since it's being prepared for shipping, it usually isn't in time.

That's not as easy as you might think. I got stuck with 2 extra sets of TLM dolls that didn't get cancelled properly, and I've still yet to sell off the Eric and Ursula dolls. I would say try to get them in store since there's no risk of damage (one of the Eric dolls I tried to cancel came damaged). I don't think these will be all that hard to get, depending on how many your local store gets in.

Both cinderella and Ariel were pre-orders that I was able to get in store, and disney would still not let me cancel, even though for cinderella I tried immediately. Even after multiple emails and multiple phone calls, I was repeatedly told that it could not be done. The problem too, with being international is you have to pay the expensive shipping and duty, and most people don't want to buy it at that high price, even though it's was was actually paid for the doll.

Both me and my sister put in an order for Ariel online (she was helping me since my computer was having issues then, and didn't realize my order did go through). We were able to cancel the duplicate order without any problems; it was going to a different address and had a different name, so it wasn't because Disney knew it was a duplicate order.

I just spoke to my disneystore, and they are only getting 3 of each doll. There is absolutely no way I can skip work that day to make it to the store early enough to get them. I don't think I can order them online this time. A little depressed about it, not going to lie.

That's awesome, I'm glad that you were able to cancel your preorders!

Oh no I hope it works out that you can get the frozen dolls!

I'll call them before lunch; if they have any remaining I'll try for them during that time, but I can't miss that day and there's no one who could go in my place that day.

I'm crossing my fingers that Snow outfit Anna will be made for the DVD/Bluray release and maybe I could get her instead. I LOVE Elsa's snow queen look, but I'm not that excited about Anna's gown this time. I'd still like Anna, because there's no guarantee they will make another version of her though. Le sigh.

A very beautiful dolls set but... I think that the Harrods's special edition price on ebay is too expensive considering that the two Disney Store's limited editions are identical but separate! IMHO
