Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
This is such a fantastic and helpful thread! Thank you! I stumbled upon this forum this week and i am delighted to have joined! I LOVE the Ltd Ed dolls and am fairly new to the collectors scene, but i just can't get enough!

I have the full Designer Villains Collection, and also Merida, Cinderella and Wedding Rapunzel from the 17" collection. I would love to acquire Snow White 17" and Rapunzel long haired 17" so if anyone is interested in trading or selling eitger please let me know! THANK YOU! x

I have a suspicion that the China Doll is the LE release with the reason why it is so expensive being that it is made of resin and made to look like porcelain. There could be a surprise release for Peter Pan but if they do so wouldnt that detract attention from the China Doll? Especially with the price tag wouldnt Disney want to focus on selling that doll only? So maybe after a week or two when the China Doll has been up for a while they will release another.

You might be right about the Jasmine being a surprise release but only if they dont end up releasing Aladdin as a diamond edition. Based on the Disney wiki the Aladdin blu ray release is still TBA so there is still a possibility that they will release a pre-order for her just like they did with Cinderella. I believe that possibly Mulan and Pocahontas could be released as surprise releases for the die hard Disney LE doll fans as the two characters tend to be the least popular in the Disney Princess line up. But then again this is all speculation. I do believe that for now we have to be content with the release of the Oz China Doll and hope that later down the track Disney will just release another doll at the normal $99 price mark.

So...are you all doing ok? Should I dial a grievance counselor and ask him to join this forum and this thread?
Just kidding. Look at it this way, now you can pay your bills and eat this month.
PLUS! You still technically have money ready if...when...if...when they release a new doll in the future.

I'm pretty surprised that people thought Peter Pan would actually have a LE doll. With previous doll releases, they have always been for films which have released world wide around the same time, with the same edition. The US was the only country that got the Peter Pan Diamond Edition, including films such as the Pocahontas double pack last year and Mulan this year; therefore being the reason they didn't have any LE doll. Even the release for Aladdin seems messed up, so I doubt we will get a Jasmine any time soon (I hope i'm wrong). But I truly hope we get another LE 'Oz' doll soon, which we probably will, as it's being released everywhere at the same time. I don't think I could wait till Autumn for the next release.

Thats a good point. I had just assumed that thy were releasing Peter Pan as a diamond edition here in Australia as well and I just checked and they didn't. Also I noticed when they released Cinderella it was not tagged as a diamond edition which I thought was weird...

In my opinion I honestly don't think they will be releasing another LE doll for Oz (well at least not until the DVD release or something). Also if they were to release a doll on another character the only ones left they could use would be characters played by actresses so it would have too much of a likeness to the person rather than that "cartoonish" look that all the other LE dolls have so it may not be as great a doll.

I suppose you do too have a good point there. I sure hope they do release one for the theatrical release though. But I guess the reason I have hope is because they made the standard classic 'Film Collection' dolls based on the actresses's real looks which I think look pretty good, and also because I of course love the characters so much, that I really hope they make an awesome doll for the movie. Oh, one can dream.

I kept checking today like a lunatic on disneystore.com and no cigar. Sad day. However, I'm quite excited for the fall release and hope they don't disappoint us. I'm a huge Little Mermaid Fan so I'm hoping for 3 LE dolls. How about Ariel in tail form combo pack with her daughter Melody tail form, Ariel in her Kiss the girl outfit or blue shimmering dress from when she steps out of the water near the end of the movie (gorgeous dress potential), and lastly an Ursula or Vanessa doll. I would prefer Vanessa only because there is no merchandise for her! I want that shell around her neck on the doll! That's my hope and dream and they say dreams do come true!

Ok...that's not quite what I meant. I'm just confused as to why they would make a little 4" doll *by itself*, instead of a 12" like the other stores will be releasing. That's all, I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes like some elitist. Now if it came as a part of some play set with a tea cup and saucer or something, then that would be adorable and make sense to me...and also make me want to own a china hutch.

I think that the 4" doll is meant to be realively to scale with the 12" dolls. It's another marketing ploy to make money, for sure. They could just have easily included her with the Oscar Diggs doll, like the Target Oscar Diggs doll. Disney has been somewhat into their mini-dolls lately (Tangled, Cinderella, & the Disney Fairies franchise).

I think it's small because in the movie she is smaller than the people of Oz, so this way she goes with the 12" set and is the proper size in comparison

$179 for a doll whose movie i have not even watched yet? no thanks! i love the china girl though the look of her but not for that amount lol.

The China Doll Girl is sold out!

Wow, that was fast! People thought she was going to hang around for a while, but she lasted less than a week. I bet most people who bought her are resellers who are planning on selling her for $300 or something :S .

Eh. You know she'll be on ebay before we wake up tomorrow...for like $300.

$179 was just such a huge price tag. Sure it's a movie replica and all...but still. If I knew anything about her, then I might have been tempted...but still probably would have passed. If I like her character enough to want a doll of her, then there is a ToysRUs closer to my house than my nearest Disney store.

Well it doesn't surprise me as there are only 500 of them made. Hopefully only real collectors bought her and not those planning on selling her on eBay. Especially since she costs quite a bit and is a bit of a risk as no one really knows the character yet. I am expecting to get mine tomorrow, can't wait!

I need to start typing faster. You beat me to it!

I hope so too! I can't wait to get mine either.

With her being $179 + LE 500 and taking like 3 days to sell out...how much longer do you think it will take the Merida & Elinor set to sell out? When I was on LE doll watch for Peter Pan, I was SO TIRED and barely awake that night that I kept seeing the color scheme and thinking they did a Peter & Wendy set.

Just when I am falling in love with her ! Anyway I was unable to buy this doll right now, the retail price was already expensive and as I am in France, I can't imagine the final price with shipping and custom fees included! Maybe we will have a few LE China dolls on the french market !
