Hi, I traded for this pin via Pinpics:

Pin 68517: WDW - The Museum of Pin-tiquities - Disney Pin Celebration 2009 - Hitchhiking Ghosts Vase

Before confirming the trade, I asked if the pin was on the original backer/card. The trader said it was and that he purchased it directly from the event at WDW. I received the pin but it is on the backer for this pin:

Pin 68516: WDW - The Museum of Pin-tiquities - Disney Pin Celebration 2009 - Jessica Lisa

The SKU on the sticker of the backer matches the Jessica Lisa pin and this backer has 3 holes through it(2 original holes with a third hole that was poked through for the post of this Hitchhiking Ghosts Vase pin). Can someone who bought this pin from the event tell me if it is supposed to come on its own unique card or if it came on the same backer/card with sku identical to the Jessica Lisa pin?

After receiving the pin, I shared my concern with the trader and he said it is the original backer as purchased from the event.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Having gone to these events, there's a few things to know. First, there are a lot of backer cards, and when you have a box full of backer cards from tons of different releases all thrown in a box together (like I do) it can sometimes be difficult to find the EXACT right card. Though, when it's requested I try my hardest.

Second, not all of the pins came with backer cards. Some will have been in frames, or sets that would not have come with the backer cards.

First off, thanks so much for your quick reply! I really appreciate it.

True, I can see how it would be challenging to find the right backer card esp with a large collection of pins. It was a stipulation of our trade, though, that it be on its original card(which he said it was on) so that's why I was confused when I saw it on the Jessica Lisa card. I did tell him when I first contacted him about it that it looked like he may have accidentally picked up the wrong backer since they all look the same from the front, but he is saying that is not the case and it is the exact original card it came on as purchased directly from the event. So, I am hoping a neutral third party could shed some light on whether this was true for all or some of the Hitchhiking Ghosts Vase pins.

I purchased four of those pins at the event and they were on the correct card. I do not believe that they purchased the pin on that card. Perhaps he stuck another pin on the card you need so he no longer has it, but that is no reason to lie about it. If you want to return his pin and get your pin returned to you that is an option since you stipulated that the original card was part of the trade. Disney is much too careful at this event to have made that mistake. And the cards are marked with the RSP number. That's my two cents.

Out of curiosity, why does it matter what backer card it has?

Current theory is that if it has the original backer card it is less likely to be a counterfeit/scrapper. Of course, that assumes someone doesn't know how to fake the even more easily counterfeited backer card.

I do believe the pin he sent me is authentic. It's just that I keep all my pins on their original backer/cards so that is why I asked him before we confirmed the trade. I try to do this for all my traders and keepers.

Unfortunately, he is insisting that he bought the pin from the event this way. He said he doesn't know why it has the Jessica Lisa number on the back or why it has 3 holes. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you very much. I hope you do not mind if I PM you to ask for more info about the card and how it should look like.

I totally understand your frustration here. I always ask the upfront questions when trading/buying because I hate to be surprised by a flaw later on when I receive it... and sometimes I still get a surprise. I wish people would just be more upfront and honest.

It also may be that he had all the cards from those pins in a certain area and grabbed the wrong one, if they look alike, and sent it out to you this way, not on purpose.

Since he is insisting it is the original card he may have sent his Jessica pin out to someone else on your pins card, not realizing how much they look alike.

Oops happens. :-(

The pin could have been purchased on the 4Th RSVP on the last day of the event or bought at the public part of the event on Sunday or bought in the park after the Event. If someone returned the pin from there first RSVP it easily could be on the wrong card and 98% of us would never notice or for that matter care. All the cards from that event where the same.
