Can't say we ever thought we were going to own this pin what with it being LE 100 and only 3 people trading it, but we just completed a trade (our first one through Pin Pics, yay!) and now this little beauty is in our collection along with a few others! A huge thanks to the trader even though he isn't on DPF, he was absolutely wonderful to trade with :) P.S. sorry for the large photo!

Oh man! Those are beautiful pins! Congratulations Cheyenne and Stephen! :) You both deserve all of those cute pins :D

P.S.
PM me :) I miss talking to you! :(

Thank you Merlin! :)

And thank you Erika  I will PM you in just a little bit! Sorry for our lack of correspondence, it's been a pretty crazy few weeks but I'll send you one in just one moment! (Gotta drive to class and then we can talk while I'm in class hehe)

I'm pretty sure the lighting just makes it look gold, but it is indeed silver. If only it was the gold prototype! :p
Gold or silver would be the prototype - the pin itself is black (the dark gunmetal color). Yours definitely looks brighter than the regular black version - silver prototype perhaps? :) If not, yours has kept quite shiny over the years!

At any rate - gorgeous pin - took me many years to get. :)

Wow! I'm going to have to take a look at it again when I get home. Will it say so on the back of the pin? I took a quick glance at the back but didn't see anything that stood out to me. I thought it was just supposed to be silver

And thank you mickeymousje!

Nope, the only way to tell often is to just see the metal color difference side by side. :) I'll take a look at mine later and see if I can distinguish the difference better for you (I can't get a good pic with my phone or I'd take one to compare) but as I recall, the regular "black metal" version was darker looking than yours. Could just be you have a bright flash on your camera though! LOL

I didn't actually use flash with this picture, just natural lighting (although it was with my phone so it did come out a little distorted). But now I'm curious because I took a look at the pin and it is quite silver! I can easily see my reflection in the border. The back of the pin, however, is quite darker than the border so I'm very confused now as to whether this is the prototype or the regular :p let me know what you find with your pin! :)

With the DA and DS pins, the only way I could ever tell black from silver was side by side and sometimes even then it was a tough call! :D

But I would say, take a bright silver metal pin (maybe like a hidden mickey?) and put the back of that pin next to the back of this pin. If your Cheshire pin looks pewter or gunmetal gray next to a bright silver pin, then it's likely the normal black. If side by side they both look silver, maybe you have silver. :)

At any rate, you have a very nice condition pin - very shiny! Mine is a little duller with age as I recall. :)

Okay, I took a look at mine. The regular "black" metal version is really a gunmetal grey, but it's darker than a silver metal pin. So as I said above, take a pin that is a shiny silver on the back and compare it to yours. If yours is as bright/light as the definitely silver pin, then it could very well be a silver version of the pin. If it is a darker color metal, then it is the "black" metal version.

I never understood why it was called black metal when it was grey. LOL But next to a definitely silver metal pin, there is a color difference. :)

Either way, congrats on a great pin. Nothing has ever come close to the quality of DA pins. :cheshire:
