Mobile app
I made one for collecting and tracking hidden mickey's. Made it all the way to meeting with Disney and their mobile app development team. Then they just cut all communication. Apple won't allow my app to go to the store because of all the pictures of pins, they say it's Disney's artwork. I told them I'm not selling artwork, it's for reference. They wouldn't get near crossing Disney with a 20 foot poll.
I bought a book to learn to develop apps in April of 2011 after I returned from a trip to WDW when I started collecting pins. Taught myself to use Apples Developer kit. I had a fully functioning working app on my iPhone and took it to the parks and showed CM's, traders, random people by June of 2011. It took me to December of 2011 to get a name at Disney (via my own sleuthing around the internet and cold called the director of applications.) Then fastforward to April of 2012 when I get an NDA and finally get to talk to the mobile applications people. Then I prepared a powerpoint briefing in summer of 2012 and the last I think I heard back was maybe Aug/Sep of 2012. Now they don't even return my emails. I've all but given up.
I showed them what I had done, why I had done it. I added features they asked me to. I did everything I could. Nothing to show for it but an app on a MacBook Air I borrowed from a friend that will never go anywhere. Designed it for iOs 4.3, I'm sure now I'd have to tweak it up to 5.1 or 5.2 just to get it submitted again. It was a TON of work. The actual app was really not much. All the Apple red tape, tax info, developer licenses, computer and phone certificates, etc was what too so long. I registered and designed a webpage for people to get support or give suggestions. I updated it once with new 2012 wave A HM releases but stopped since. No point in keeping it going.
