I know that we cannot post links or the seller's eBay userID, but when did this listing end (if you don't mind sharing with us)? I am also curious about this seller. The way that they are handling this is very poor. Instead of offering a solution, which initiated on their end (their friend's fault or not), they keep pushing to have the item sent back overseas. The bolded part above from their latest reply really bothers me. That is terrible customer service!

A simpler solution would be for you to find out what the customs fees ought to be for the amount that the listing ended for and then for the seller to issue a partial refund for the difference to you, since (again) the error happened due to the actions of their representative.

I agree with this solution. And when you message them about it make sure you point out that this would be cheaper than paying for shipping twice (since the seller should be responsible for covering the original shipping and returning shipping, as the error IS their fault).
 
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this nightmare to get your LE Snow White. And with each reply, the seller's English seems to get worse and worse, as well as his/her attitude. I agree with Shivatopia's suggestions on getting a partial refund of the customs fees from the seller.

However, if you get to keep the doll, it will have been all worth it in the end. Once you get a look at her, she is so incredibly beautiful that it will make your pain in getting her melt away.
 
i contacted the seller again and i might be getting somwhere as this was his reply:
hey. these really only sold for 100 dollars when they were first released. see if you can find on the Internet that shows the price . Plus since it was marked through it should be consider a mistake . If any way I can help let me know. thanks

That's slightly better, but who knows if customs will accept that. After all, if the doll were only $99.50 US, then why would the shipper list such a high price?

I still think that the seller should refund you the difference of the inflated customs fee from what it ought to be. Sure, the seller takes a hit, but they caused the problem to begin with. Keep us posted! :)
 
I know it was stated already, but could you ask Customs to open the box. All of Disney products have price tags, and show them that the doll is only worth $99 US.
Another question, where did the doll get shipped from? I've seen several sales of LE dolls from China or Thailand, and that's when you need to be suspicious.
 
My two cents-you could try both proof of value with customs-the original website price or the Ebay Transaction-I think they are more likely to go for the actual value paid on Ebay so bring your PayPal receipt too. I think they will want to see the transaction if they are to make an adjustment. I would not even talk to the seller anymore, he/she is not going to refund anything. And I am sure he will say he cannot do that until you cancel the transaction etc. I think asking for the difference, as Shiva suggested is the best option, but asking Ebay for the difference will be better. That is why you should contact Ebay so they may put a hold on the money. Again, say you know the buyer is responsible for customs, tell them of the over-valuing, tell them you still want the merchandise and ask that they recoup the difference. I think when they see the seller's emails they will know he is not on the up and up. What does putting a line through the value mean? So he can deny it if caught? and I thought his friend did this. You are better off finding out what Customs can do, I am sure this is not the first time this has happened, and only deal with Ebay, not the seller.

I can only speak from our experince of buying a Snow from the US and shipping her to the UK. Customs will ONLY go based on what is on the form, which is a legal document and can't be changed or modified in any way, plus the postage. We tried to argue that the doll was $100 but they don't care, and they will not care as that is not what is listed on the customs form. You can try to show the invoice, however the customs form will trump that as when someone sends something overseas, their signature turns that into a legally binding document, whereas the ebay invoice is not -- and the seller could argue that it has been photoshopped or something.


Not trying to be a downer, but I think that you will get stuck paying the fees as they are. We had no luck -- even though the seller said they would try to contact customs themselves to help out since the fees were a joke. We ended up paying, and got her in the end. Good luck with it and hope it gets resolved soon.

Also, not that it is any of your concern, but the seller would be in massive trouble if they say the customs declaration was 'mistakenly' filled out. I don't think that could come back to you, however keep in mind if they keep a record of your correspondence, they could say that you were pressuring them to do something illegal. Just something to think about and unfortunately a risk when you buy from overseas on ebay.

if the customs form is different from the amount you paid, you can file a complaint on ebay as that is the sellers fault, also remember it could be including insurance as I can't see the form I dont know that is if it far exceeds all costs (shipping, insurance and the doll). remember you only have a limited amount of time to file a claim as well as to pick the doll up, if you do not pick the doll up from customs I don't know if you could file it as item not received or not.

in all honestly while looking at your original post I would say bite the bullet and pay for the customs fee's, you will for sure get your doll that way and then file a complaint on ebay for unjust fees and get a refund as it is the sellers responsibility to fill out the customs forms correctly, you can argue this by the original costs on ebay vs. the cost that they wrote on the customs form. (it should never exceed the cost of; shipping, shipping material (box, foam, ect, insurance, and of course the item, at the cost the buyer paid for)

I dont care if they had somebody else fill out the form or not it is still under their name and their responsibility
 
i ended up paying the charges and got snow white but i have put a claim in today to claim the excess charges back so heres hoping!! i do think she is a beautiful doll but she is never worth the money i or others pay for her and i think thats took a shine off her a little bit but thats just my opinon
 
After applying for a refund with customs in February , finally today I have recieved a refund from them of £129.06!!!!! So a happy ending after all :)
