I recently made a trade with someone online and they agreed to send me two of their pins for one of mine. I made sure that it was ok that I shipped on Friday (being this Friday coming up) and they said they were fine with that. I didn't expect them to ship theirs any earlier but they did. I received their two pins in the mail today. One was fine and legit, the other is a blatantly obvious scrapper. Funny enough both pins even came in one of the supposed "scrapper" baggies with the red line on the top. I have no clue if this person knew what they were sending me or not.

I am really unsure of what to do now. I messaged the user and am currently awaiting a response. I don't want to send my pin to them and I definitely don't want to have to pay to ship them back and be out money, but I also don't want to "stiff" them either. Would it be wrong of me to ask for another legit pin from them or ask if they would accept the $2.45 it cost them to ship it to me through paypal? Since I have really only gotten half the trade that was promised to me.

It's a newer hidden mickey that I didn't even realize there were scrappers of or I wouldn't have bothered trading for it online. I think I go to Disney enough now where I can stop trading online and through the mail except for with people I trust.

There must just be something in the water this week!

I bought a few pins and only spent about $10 but it turns out they were all scrappers. I did message the lady about them but she didn't really 'get it'. She was a much older lady who just enjoyed going to the parks and trading with cast members. I personally just cut my losses.

I would see if they would send you one more pin that was legitimate first. I would try to give them the benefit of the doubt first that they didn't do it on purpose. But I wouldn't let them screw you over either!

As for the bags, I keep all of mine so I have something to help protect them when I mail them.

I'm starting to get frustrated with some of the trading from people who just don't care that they have scrappers and thinks it's no big deal.

If it were me I'd wait and see there response first . They trusted you enough to post first so I think it only fair to wait for a response and if it's not one you like you can always post them back their pins , you were going pay one lot of postage anyways and at least you'd still have a genuine pin as a trader .
Personally I'll never trade anything I can't guarantee is genuine but when it comes to Hidden Mickey's I avoid them all together except at a park where I can see and decide for myself or if it's part of a multi-pin trade in which case I'd just accept the risk .

I agree with Speedwaystar1. I'd wait and see what they say first. (have they replied yet?) Chances are, they have no idea what they sent you. Or, they looked at it and it looked ok to them. You didn't say what made you think it was a scrapper. Color? Lettering? Quality?

After waiting 10 days for a reply from this pin trader, who I honestly never thought I would hear from again at this point, decided to finally reply saying that the shipping had cost them $6.... (Did I mention we live literally an hour or two from each other and could have probably met up to trade in person?) At this point I will just be sending their pins back via USPS First Class shipping, for $2.45! I cant tell if this is actually a new trader or someone trying to pull a fast one over on me. They were to be part of a gift for someone as well. Id rather cut my losses at this point. No pins and out shipping. Just very glad that I hadnt sent them my pin as well!! I think that Im done with trading online and will just stick to in person or only with people I trust through the mail any more. It was fun while it lasted.

Ps just in case they are new I tried to give them advise to help them on the future.

I am sorry to hear you are having such issues. Please pm me the pinpics id of the person so I can keep an eye on them as a mod. There is no way they should have had a s dollar postage fee unless they were sending it priority mail flat rate box. Seems very shady.

I make at least 6 trades a week all over the world. I have had very few issues, thankfully. I am so happy about that. There are a lot of really nice people out there to trade with. I would hate for a few bad apples to ruin the fun of pin trading for you.
