New pin trading area at DLR
I thought there was going to be an area in Cars Land for trading. I know it's not DLR exactly but I thought it was going to be a permenat area for pin trading.

I wish!! That would be awesome

I dunno man. I was at LGM all day hanging having a great time then I met this pin trader who had Tiana and Rapunzel!!! I threw my whole book at her but she kept saying now... I think she was a shark :hsd: lol JK today was fun. I met some GREAT people had a good time just chilling in the shade talking!

Had an amazing day. Nice to see you Amy like always and it was great meeting you NuwinTrader. Thanks for the awesome auction opportunity. We spent the day with great friends Had a blast. Not worrying about sharks or scrappers and nonsense like that. Just visiting friends and meeting new people. You know what pin trading should really be about.

Yup Danny, showed you my three rows of teeth! Well I traded a Japan history of art for a scrapper so if I'm a shark, I'm the worst one ever! Ha!

Aww man my thread has turned to the drama side.. I just want some pictures people!! Nice to see tons of traders at LGM. The "NEW" Trading area is really big and nice but there is NO ONE back there. I was not able to take any pictures of the area cause my phone was low on battery but I did fish for pins Game is a lot harder than you would think... That stupid orange fish is impossible to catch Nice to see lots of DPF'ers today. Didnt trade but did stop to say hello.

Through the years, Disney (and even some pin traders) have tried to get traders over to DCA for pin trading. It just never caught on for some reason (and now, reading this whole thread, no one is even willing to get their lazy butts over to a newer/nicer area that Disney is providing in DL, so to get them over to DCA? Fat chance.). People want to trade in DL, or at Pin Traders in DTD before they took those tables away.

I dont think it has anything to do with being lazy. But the lack of foot traffic over there. Hopefully it will get better - but whenever i want to relax and sit down at DLR that is where I go because no one ever really goes there. So I think that is the resistance most people are experiencing.

Are they still going to do the pin games at Big Thunder Ranch throughout the summer? It sounds like a lot of fun, but I can't go till mid-August.

I want to trade at Cars Land. I thought perhaps the tables at FLO's V8 Diner would be cool but would CM's kick us out? I think they should put "Oil & Gas" barrels over by Stanley's statue under the "Sparky's Spark Plug" sign. There is nothing there and it's shaded for a good bit of the day. I'll have to suggest it next time I go.

Maybe we can organize a pin trading day for all DPF members that can make it to trade at Flo's V8. Like a Saturday or Friday evening? Then just keep going back to the same spot so people see us.

I'm not a fan of the new area so far. But they did let us know about it, be it a rather sneaky way. About a week before they removed the barrels, there was a little blurb about the new pin trading area in the schedule listing handout that you can pick up at the gate of the park. I thought it was odd that they didn't announce this anywhere else but there.

The games could be made better if the pins we could trade for were not the same ones that can be traded for on the non-game trading board. How about they release the hidden mickeys this way like they used to with the Pirates of the Caribbean mystery chest trading game? Or how about more games where we can win some pins? The area is big enough to hold a lot of pin traders. I miss the old pin boards during the time of the all American pin trading event.

An organized day for dpf'ers would rock. And we can let others at LGM know about it, and drag them over!

There are special pins that you can't trade for normally. In the pan for gold one, you can get a limited edition pin if you pick a gold piece with a sticker on the back. They also rotate the games throughout the day.

I'll have to try the games again. I must have missed that!

Although I'm not a complete fan about the new area I was super excited to find out there was a petting zoo! I never knew there was one.

Hahahahah Magon - u are so cute!!! that petting zoo has been there forever! I usually go in once a year in October since that is also where the amazing pumpkin carvers are! I do love the Ranch area in the fall! Here is a question - do they have lights there at night or does the area close down? I have never walked there after sundown.

update on BTMR trading area.

Today we, the family, decided to "tough it out" back there and see if we got foot traffic.

  • When we got there, no traders to be seen at tables, but some random non regulars played the games.
  • the CM book was set up, as were both games.
  • My hubby found the mickey coin and traded for a LE1000 from the special bag. NICE!
  • we set up at a picnic table, had several familys asking what pin trading was. 3-4 maybe? so yes, new foot traffic exists.
  • we saw 4 different trader couples or families. which is promising, if more people set up, it might work out great.
  • we did NOT get soaked when it started to rain. BONUS!
  • Our daughter got major fun time playing chase with chip and saying hi to the rotating characters.

There was a large group of Disney managers in the area, so I asked them what we are all dyeing to know....
  1. is this really the trade area now? yes, at least for now.
  2. will they bring barrels back here or can we use the picnic tables? yes to both. the 3 barrels there may be used by us when not set up with CM's, they are looking into barrels to put back here for us as well. AND if any CM trys to tell us we cant use the picnic tables, tell them entertainment 1 managment gave the ok for traders to use them.
  3. Are we going to get WWH back? Eventually, most likely, but not right now. perhaps end of summer.

hope this helps! please join us back there! We will be at DLR fri 13th. but will be wandering more, and meeting friends who may or may not want to utilize BTMR trade area. But I personally loved it!
