i'm new to pins (see my intro thread), so i'm still learning. my biggest fear, fakes (scrappers)! but i have noticed on pinpics, that many pins have "disneyauctions.com" on the bottom of the card that the pin is on. i tried visiting disneyauctions.com, and nothing comes up. can someone enlighten me on what disneyauctions.com is?

It was disneys attempt at creating an auction website to exclusively sell Disney merchandise...as you can tell they gave up on it now items from disneyauctions.com are highly sought especially lower LE pins

This is what Wikipedia had to say about it:

Disney Auctions was created in October 2000 with a partnership between The Walt Disney Company and eBay. Items like signs and ride vehicles from Disneyland and Walt Disney World were commonly sold as well as costume pieces and props from previously released movies from Walt Disney Studios. In fall of 2006, Disney ended their partnership with eBay and moved the Disney Auctions website under its own banner. In 2009 DisneyAuctions.com was completely shut down and that domain now redirects visitors to DisneyStore.com.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Store

A lot of DA (Disney Auctions) pins are highly desireable because they were some of the most beautiful pins Disney has ever made. With that being said, just because a pin is DA that doesn't mean it is super rare or valueable. They made some pretty dumb pins too! lol But here are just a few examples of some of the "nicer" DA pins so that you can get an idea of what sets them apart from the rest.

thanks erudolf, how did you insert the pics in the message that would direct me to pinpics when i clicked on it?

It is kind of tricky right now because there is a bug that showed up after the upgrade. I'll go through the normal process and show you the temporary work around.

Step 1 - Go to Pinpics, find the pins you want to include in your post, and change the view to Thumbnails.

Step 2 - Highlight and copy (Ctrl + C) the thumbnails you want to use.

Step 3 - Return to your DPF post and click the A/A button at the top left corner of the post.

Step 4 - Paste in the thumbnails you copied and then that should be it. But....this is where the bug is. This is what it should look like:

But right now, because of the bug, this is what you get:

Step 5 Workaround - You have a couple of more steps to fix this until the bug is corrected. First click on the A/A button again and this will display the code behind the thumbnails you just pasted in. If you notice, it is putting "disneypinforum.com" in the code when it should be putting www.pinpics.com. This happens in two spots per thumbnail. If you are only pasting in one or two you can just fix it there in the code. But, if you are bringing over several it is better to do a find/replace.

Step 6 - To do a find/replace copy all of your code over to word or an email draft and do a find (Ctrl + F), find "disneypinforum" and replace www.pinpics. Replace all.

Step 7 - Now that you have corrected all of the code, copy it, delete out the old code in your post and paste in the corrected code.

Step 8 - Click on the A/A button one more time and you should see your thumbnails!

Then post and you should be good. I know it seems like a lot of steps but once you get the hang of it the process isn't too bad. Hopefully they will have the bug fixed soon.

Thank you Erudolf! That's great info for here at DPF and anywhere else one could use this! I'm pre-computer age, so alot of this stuff goes waaay over my head!

holy *carp* that was alot of work for you to do, thank you so much for the info. will that work for my signature also? i have signature envy, and i want a cool signature like some people.

That has never worked for me. When I try to do it my DPF window changes to the page of the pin I was dragging over.

That's interesting - which browser do you use? I use Firefox.

Edited to add - I didn't mean my post last night to come across in the way that it did erudolf! I was rather tired at the time and I've just realised looking back at it how it looks after you went to so much effort to post all that help!

I'm on Internet Explorer.

No worries!

Ah, I see now. It's IE that's the problem. Just tried it on IE and it wasn't having any of it! Try installing Firefox as it works on that (and will save you lados fo time!)

Can't - at least not at work anyways. IE is our approved browser. I probably could at home but there I'm usually on my iPad. :dunno:
