Hello everyone! I have a quick question regarding the process of individually numbering pins. Say, for example, there is a LE 100 pin. Every pin is numbered 001,002,003....100. Would #000 be an AP, or just part of the released set? The reason I am asking, is because I am in the process of buying a pin, and the number on is is #000.

Do you have a picture of it? I would think if it was an AP/PP that it would have a stamp stating such.
 
So, I wanted to revive this thread because I got the pin! It is my biggest Grail!!! WHOOHOO!!! I don't actually have it in my possession yet, however the seller sent me a picture of it. Anyone know if it is an AP?





 
The egg looks identical. The front of the pin is identical. On the back of the pin the ONLY difference I can see is that your 'nub' up by the pinback is at a 7:00 position and mine is more at a 10:00 position (and mine says 192 where yours says 000). You might have the Ap or PP mark up behind that pinback. The finish and backstamps are the same. I'm sure you have an authentic pin!
 
We collect many AP and PP pins. Check the upper left of the back of your pin. Is that a dent or a partial stamp from an "AP" or "PP". Font usually looks like a typewriter (I am getting old). We also have a few 000/700 (ecaample) pins that were AP pins from framed sets. Cool pin! Congrats!
 
Thanks for the responses! When I get the pin, I will defiantly check it out to see if there are any other markings on it. If it is an AP or PP pin, does that make it more desirable? Just wondering!

It lends another element of scarcity to the pin. Usually there is 10-20 pins made as "AP" (Artist Proof) or "PP" Pre-Production Pins. As far as it being more desired, it depends on the collector. Some people like the fact that it is another version of a larger limited edition pin. So even if it is an LE 100, the AP or PP would be even more scarce.

Other people look at these pins and prefer the one that was "officially" released and is a part of the confirmed issued edition size.

Personally, we think they are very cool and much harder to find! Again, congrats on the pin!
