No they usually don't count the extras in the LE number which is how we have scrappers. Could be a typo or they may let people upgrade later at the event if it didn't sell out or somthing. Could also be raffling them!

What's Alexander? and that's pretty cool how they did jack this time

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is the newest Disney live action movie based on the book by the same name, starring Steve Carrell and Jennifer Garner.

African cats, chimpanzee and a few other movies were themed too C:

Oh, ok. Those were before my time (I just started going to DSF in April).

I know this sounds kind of rude, but I hope the event isn't that successful.. it's a minimum of $75 just to trade with people, or just for the OPPORTUNITY to purchase pins. It just rubs me the wrong way I guess. Sorry if that was rude to say.

I get where you're coming from. At least the attendees will be getting somewhat of a value for their money, since at free events you just come and pin trade with nothing included and for this one they get a PTD voucher, a ticket to the movie, and getting to meet the pin artists, plus having it in the hotel which is a lot nicer than tables and chairs in the alley. I think a lower price point would have been a lot more reasonable, though (maybe around $50). I hope that those who go at least get good trades in, and that there are good pins on Ghirardelli's pin trading boards.

I've cooled off, I get that they are going to have to charge to cover the hotel(of course PTN is at a hotel Disney owns and this one isn't).. and the PTD voucher helps.. although I don't count the value of the meeting the pin artists since that was at their last free event and happens a lot at free events at DLR. Plus, I guess I just don't value the movie ticket that highly because I'm not so much a movie-going kind of person (but I have seen movies in the El Cap and I get that it IS awesome if you are a fan of the movie)

That of course is all just how /I/ value it and I admit I am frugal.i

It just bums me out because I know eventually there is going to be a pin trading event that will have pins that I want and I wont be able to afford a ticket PLUS the cost of pins. But now that the initial shock has settled down I total understand them trying to make it a pay-only event

People are talking about larger events you pay for IE 20th Nightmare anniversary event, Tiki room event, the IMAGINATION GALA event, Year of 13: Villains event.

The 75$ Breakdown is really:

16$ PTD
13$ Ticket

So while that's only 30$ the other 40 goes to the hotel/event. Seems like alot sure but it also GUARENTEES you a FULL SET of pins while also letting you by pass the 1k turnout line and camping out.

I'd sure as heck pay an extra 40$ for a safer DSF trip!

On the other side the 145$ package is 32$ ptds, 13$ ticket, 25 - 30$ meal (Based on normal hotel-event pricing for Disney and hollywood) and the LE 125 pin (18 - 20$ minimum) so about 95$ in all...the 50$ is for a guarenteed set, getting in before everyone else, hardly any line, getting to pick your trading spots early, cost of venue, and a safer visit to DSF.

And I'm sure that is why I'm on different wavelengths with people about it. I've grown up around more shady urban areas than the alleyway for DSSH, it doesn't bother me to stand in an alley full of people on Hollywood, I don't think it's unsafe. Also, I'm on a tighter pin budget than most, I can't afford an extra $40 just for the luxury, or things I didn't plan for or want for that matter (like an expensive movie ticket.)

In my experience the pin traders were always the ones that were the dangerous ones.

Plan to be at Hollywood on Sunday morning as the extras of the LE400 pins (so there will be 100 extras) are going to be sold at DSSH starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 26th, according to the flyer.

Pay to trade? After all the $$$$$$$$$$ we have thrown at DSF OVER THE YEARS.......

DLR and WDW have been doing it for years - there is a cost to rent the space and tables at the Roosevelt and at least half of the fee is returned in various gifts (PTD voucher, movie ticket, etc... )

Free to pin trade...

While it should be free look at the events. Look at Rasputin's recent post on why Cast Members hate pin traders, look at the aftermath photos after the pin traders are gone from DSF and the HUGE mess they make. Look at the huge line for pins at DSF right now, that stuff is hard to deal with. Yeah we make them tons of money but in the end we're a huge burden on them too. They DON'T HAVE TO GIVE US EVENTS AT ALL. It's not an obligation.

They have free pin trading events at DSF on I think it's the first and last Tuesday of every month.

Second and last Tuesday of each month. Next Tuesday is one. Those are always free. And the other Tuesdays are still (as far as I know) unofficial trade nights there, where people sit in the back of the shop and trade.

I'm half expecting there to be a surprise pin for the Alexander release, since no pin is labeled as a No Good pin; only Terrible, Horrible, and Very Bad are currently represented. I say half expecting because generally when there are more than three pins announced there isn't a surprise, but there was a surprise fifth for Frozen and two surprises for the Back To School, so you never know.

Well that's ironic. I'm actually going to be IN TOWN (well, in California) for a release/event weekend... except our Halloween Party tickets are for Friday night.

Not that we'd probably spend that much on this event anyway, because neither of us collects NBC quite that seriously. (Seanan likes Jack but she doesn't do ALL Jack, and doesn't collect most of the other characters I think.) I really wish I could get that Vanellope for her though!
