I was curious if you buy or trade for pins that are not in your collection for the sole purpose of trading it later on for something you would want

if Ive had a trader for awhile and its not getting me anything for my collection, I will trade it for another trader to try to mix it up a bit. I dislike purchasing traders unless I can get them for retail.

I do a bit of both - I'm new to the hobby so I'm still having to buy MOST of my pins so I can trade them later. Sometimes it's hard to prevent yourself from just buying what you want and not bother with trading but for the tough to find pins it's good to have some traders in the corner pocket :)

I do both, if I can get a good/reasonable deal on traders. But I will probably start leaning to just buying for myself because it's getting expensive to buy traders that I don't want to keep.

I also do both. I recently did a trade where I thought I'd have the pin I received in my trading bag for awhile. A month later I traded the pin I got for a Disney Store UK/Europe pin. Even got a 2nd of the same pin for my trading bag for another pin I had. You never know what will happen. It's fun taking chances once in awhile.

I buy what I want for my main collection(s) that I want to be a serious completist with, and trade for stuff in my side collections as they are more relaxed and just for fun (don't care about being a completist with those). Yes, I would trade and buy pins solely for the purpose of trading them again later if I found a good deal. Buying LE sets and trading the pieces away is fun as well.

I have traded for pins that I plan on trading. Mostly I do this if someone really wants one of my traders for their collection and they don't have anything I collect. Than I will trade for something that I plan on trading.

I have purchased pins as traders. When Disneyshopping.com used to have the pin sale (in February and August) I bought some pins (and some mystery sets) for 1/4-1/2 of the original price.

I have a few duplicates of my traders but I rarely buy a trader that I do not like.

I also do not mind trading my traders for another good trader. Especially since I will go to the NBC event at Disneyland on June 14th. The more traders I have the better off I am.
