Ive sentout about 8 messages now and had 1 reply of just "not interested" and that's it. Nothing from the others.

I don't know if it helps but I try and focus on the most recent releases first , if someone has bothered to add it as a trader they're obviously still active .
Also don't be too disheartened with the low number of responses , personally I don't get my emails from PinPics reliably . They often end up in my spam folder regardless of how many times I try and alter it , so I only check when I'm going to add new pins to my collection .

I usually just have a template message I copy and paste when I'm not interested in a trade, that goes along the lines of:

"Hello _______,Thank you for contacting me. However I am not interested in trading at this time. I hope that you're able to find what you're looking for in the future!
Purplemandms"

Even if it is a very lopsided, and clearly uneven trade. If someone does give me a "bad offer" (i.e. HM with lots of scrappers for a nice LE), I'll generally check their traders and see if there's anything else I'm interested, and then make a counter-offer. If they accept, great! Everyone's happy. But if they send a rude reply back or continue offering pins that I don't think are suitable for the trade (when I know that they have other traders), then I just close the conversation and mark that person's username on a list. I've found it's the best way to avoid being scammed. I'm sorry this experienced happened to you!
Well said. I think that is the trouble at times. It's hard to tell if it's a mistake or someone trying to get over on you. I never get requests for my regular pins. But the older ones that are now in the htf group, people always offer me open pins and often HM pins that are old known scrapers.

I have a thought on two of these issues being discussed here:

The lopsided trade offers: It seems what has been happening to me a lot in the past few weeks (and I'm totally guessing on this first part) is on PinPics with the trade assistant, people are just "trade fishing" - marking anything that is a match to try to trade their pin to multiple people at the same time. I've been responding to trade offers, reasonable or not, and I've been getting a lot of "Sorry, I've already traded the pin" responses. It's only been a couple of hours! One time it happened when I responded about 45 minutes later. It's not like I waited a day or two to respond (if I had waited a couple of days, I totally understand!). I also get it if someone posted that a pin is available on here and I missed out or I sent them a trade offer and it was already traded or being traded. But this keeps happening to me. Which leads me to issue #2:

No response: If I have this happen a couple of times from the same person, it makes me not want to respond to them in the future. I mean, I get excited when I see the trade offer come through - Yay! Someone wants to trade! Just to be disappointed when I get their response. Not to mention that before I respond, I've usually checked my traders to make sure I do have the pin they want and sometimes having taken the time to do that research about a more fair trade. It's made me a little gun-shy about responding to trade offers from new people. I still do, but now I'm starting to dread what their response is going to be.

And in regards to Figment919's original post, I'm really sorry that happened to you. There really is no call for anyone to be rude like that. You were wonderful in the trade with me and I truly appreciate you!

I agree with providing a response to any PM. Responding is just polite and perhaps will build some positive juju. For trade requests I receive and am not interested in, I provide a some version of a 'its not your pin, its me' response. Trying my best to respond in a way that takes some of the sting out of the written word.

Yes I got one yesterday ,they offered a rack pin for 3 of my les ,I went and checked our matches and the one they offered was high in trading ,I had to pass ,they write me back
oh well why are you on pinpics then if you do not want to trade ?
i did not know what to say after that one ,so I just did not respond to it

You could say, "Hey, I'm not a cast member so I don't HAVE to trade." I always tend to think snarky thoughts. That's why I don't ever respond to these lopsided requests...

After three months of having trade assist off because I just get so overwhelmed every time I turn it on, I will try it again using this method.
