I was trading today at disneyland and security came over and told everyone to pack up and leave they said we were no longer aloud to trade in this area no reason was given they were very hostile they said if they see us there again they would start banning people from the park, Where do you think a good place to continue trading would be? very dissapointed in DLR

These Security guards mean business!!

very said no more traders

I'm so sorry this happend it must of made you feel so mad! It's disgusting they treat you like this but they expect you to still buy there pins! I think we should start a partition and get as many as possible to sign it and have it hand delivered at the customer relations in the park then you know they have received it or even give it to one of the managers that's in the parks

I was at the park today shortly after this happened. This had nothing to do with Disneyland banning trading or anything of the sort. This is a very busy trading every Sunday, and has the blessing of the manager of the area. They are actually very happy to have us there for the increased traffic by pin traders as well as other guests who wonder what's going on.

What happened today is that some numskull nearly ruined it for everyone by breaking just about the only rule there is: don't sell pins on Disney property. They not only sold pins, but did it right in front of a Cast Member! The CM reported it, and security made everyone leave. They were apparently very brusque about it as pinbum says, but after a short while the CMs came around to the people who were hanging out nearby to explain what happened and make sure everyone knew we were still very welcome there. Just that we were not to sell pins (as everyone should already know!)

So this is a non-issue, and all is well at Disneyland for pin trading. And hopefully there will be some extra internal policing as a result when pin traders spot other traders being dumb and risking it for everyone.

Glad to hear/read that the real story was obtained and that Disneyland is not completing banning trading at the park because of one person.

Do you know if they allow for fantasy pins to be traded between traders?

I did not stick around I picked up my books and ran as fast as I could. I never want to go to Disneyland jail!!!The fake cop told me that only 1 trading book was aloud. I think I will give a few weeks before I go back to let the smoke clear...

Wow at first i thought it was really the end of pin trading inside the parks beginning by California one but i'm glad it's not! Thanks Atticus for clarified the situation
Have always fun time trading in Paris one with people from all around da world!

Seriously, someone sold pins?

I have been told this is the reason why the tomorrowland area was taken away. With those card reader cubes it is very easy to do it. I wish Disney would just deal with the people that are causing the problems and not do the blanket thing. If they started taking away people's passes this kind of stuff would quit very quickly. People know the rules, if they break them they should pay, not all of us!!!

It would be too bad if a few idiots ruin it for everyone. Selling in-park and camping out is what got trading completely and permanently banned at Tokyo Disneyland. Of course, the US branch is much more forgiving and willing to give second chances (partially because they aren't operated by an additional company, but also because they don't want to discourage sales).

But Disney WILL drop the hammer if bad traders/sellers start pushing back, or if trading in general becomes not worth it for the hassle- we've seen it on ds.com, we've seen it at the lack of PTNs, and in many other small ways. I've always wondered at the stupidity of the people who kill their own source of revenue.

Not everyone knows Disney rules like that. To a new trader, or someone who just got an AP for the first time may have no clue you can't sell unless someone finally tells them. It's not like the rules are posted like it used to be on the barrels. Give a guy a break, sheesh.

If Disney would pull their head out of their you-know-what and actually host the free PTN's, multiple trading places designated on a map, etc. then it wouldn't be a problem. Just staff a CM to linger and help people out. Bring out a lanyard or two once in a while. Not that hard. Just idiots in charge.

I agree that a designated trading area with a sign posting rules would be the best thing in the world...especially something tucked away and shaded. It's not like the parks don't have the dead space...especially here at WDW.

But I have serious doubts that the person selling is uninformed. I mean, is it possible? Sure. But I think most people's first thought, as a newbie, wouldn't be to sell in a trading zone...and common sense kind of says that no money making establishment is going to want individuals selling merchandise in their place of business, whether that's Disney, Wal-Mart, or any other retail-type location. So, in my mind, it's not so much a pin trading rule that you have to be told, as much as a common sense kind of thing that you wouldn't do on Disney property, no matter what the collectible.

Disney definitely doesn't handle pin traders as well as they could (or should, for the amount of money most of us drop). But traders have also been known to shoot themselves in the foot, through bad behavior and rudeness. Not to mention the re-sellers that don't have the common sense mentioned above...

studio 17 sounds like a great place to trade.Disney cops do not like us @ goofys sky ride local

I'm glad that it wasn't a full trading ban or anything.

Seems pretty common sense to me that you shouldn't sell stuff on the property though. It's kind of like scalping tickets right inside the event that you're selling tickets to. Derp. They are a business.

I feel sorry for any new traders that experienced this and may have gotten scared off.

So I wrote a letter to Disney Guest Services and today I got a call back. I explained that we as traders are frustrated as to the lack of trading spaces available to us here in Ca as well as that pin traders are on the west coast are feeling jipped because all the ptns and events available at Wdw and DLRP. I also told her about this incident where people's passes were threatened because of one persons wrong doing. Yes we know selling on property is wrong but to have security act like this was just wrong.

Of course all she gave me in response was that they took away the areas we once had because other guests complained about the sharks we know exist in this hobby. She claims she was talking to upper management and they say they hope to bring trading back into the fold of activities that happen on property but as of now there is no ruling on it.

At least now they are admitting they purposely took the areas away instead of saying the space was needed for the ada booths.

Hopefully we will see some good come since she did say that pin sales here on the west coast are down and upper management does notice. So fingers crossed.

so has it all been resolved? are you guys back trading at the Ski School location with no issues? Inquiring minds want to know! Janet

I saw a few traders SUNDAY only half the group that is there on a SUNDAY.I will stay away for a couple more weeks The Disney cops were close by watching everyone. Not sure if they ever shut it down.I never want to end up in DISNEY jail and my pass cost way too much to risk losing it.

So I've been seeing the brunt of this. I've been trading for over 10 years (my parents started me at 12, lol) and I came this week expecting to make some excellent trades.
But no. Nothing. I've only seen two books in downtown Disney. I had heard rumors of the location in California Adventure, but haven't seen anyone. I'm heartbroken. I come every other year and look forward to this. There are also fewer cast lanyards this year too. It will be the first year that I probably won't complete a set. And pins are too expensive to buy a whole set from the mystery boxes. Really disappointed that Disney couldn't pick one place and assign someone to make sure bad things wheren't going down. First trip I've been disappointed with Disney.

There are people around, but the big day is Sunday at DCA. There will be lots of people there. Also, sat and sun this weekend is a pin trading event up the street at My D Pins that will be good too!
