Pinpics.com is a pin database as well as a place for information about pins, they have blogs, and a forum and several other nifty things to explore.

You can look up pins by pin number, or by descriptions. with all sorts of filters to narrow your search down. Just set up an account with your email address.

What Pyscho said.

The main benefits of Pinpics are three-fold, really.

1.) It's the biggest pin database available to the public. It lets you see retired pins, as well as new releases. It's our encyclopedia.

2.) It allows you to create accounts, and divide your pins into three sections- your collection, your Wants, and your Trades. It's a great organizational tool for keeping track of your pins.

3.) It's an online trading system. Once you set up an account and add pins to your Trades and Wants, Pinpics can match up potential trading partners. Mass e-mails get sent out when you kick off a trade request (they usually go out in bulk around 6 AM EST). If the person is interested, they'll reply to your e-mail and work out details with you.

It has other nifty functions, too, but those are the main reasons we use it and refer to it so often. I can't imagine pin trading without some sort of database...I wouldn't know about half the pins I do.

Putting it basically, it is the best way possible to keep track of your collection, what you would like to get, and what you have to trade. When trading online, it is very useful to be able to check as to whether you have a pin or not, and thus keep from getting unwanted doubles. I've been using it for a dozen years and will swear by it. Nowadays it will take you time to go through it to see them all, but in the end it is worth it, and if you take it in segments, it is less overwhelming. Just keep track of where you left off, and start again another day.

Living in TX, no where near a park, I can trade very often using Pin Pics. I also have made a lot of friends in the 9 yrs I've been trading there :)

Just an added note that when using Pinpics to set up trades, you may wish to check for references by using their e-mail address on Dizpins.com...
