PoDM Collectors... The End is Near...

Awwwww the end of the series.........?? i am wondering why when there are so many great movies left to do for the podm series. You mean NO nightmare before Christmas? NO wall-e?? No UP? These 3 and many more are worthy, wonderful movies! This does not seem fair to the huge fans of these masterpieces! Has any explanation been given as to why? I have to say I am crushed, as I was looking forward to it. I guess common sense was telling me that they would eventually do pods for them, since they have done almost all the other majors already. So bummed.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I heard a rumor that supposedly the reason why the series is ending is because the Studios in Burbank refuses to release any more cels. Again, I don't know if the information is valid, but that's what I've heard. I also heard though that there's a possibility for a new set in 2014. At this point I'm taking everything with a grain of salt and I'll just enjoy the PODM's that I have!

I loved looking at your PODM site but now I type in your site to see how your collection is coming along and it asks for a login :(

Also do you have the release order?

I know it goes

Snow White

Bambi

then I get lost lol.

Prices should go down because the series is ending. Not many people who did not collect PoDMs before will want to get into them since the cost for the older ones is so high. The option to buy new ones in hopes of trading for older ones is not longer an option plus without new releases there is less hype to attract new collectors. Without new collectors the price drops. In some ways we've already seen this begin since many gave up after Tangled. We've had 3 princess releases since Tangled (Mermaid, Mulan, and BatB) and the prices have been much lower than most expected. The more popular pins from year one will keep their value in part due to the many bad scenes from that year. It is like a comic book series that ends: the first issues tend to be worth more than the final issues.

I don't know, Beauty and the Beast pins seem exceptionally high. Not for every pin, but for the ones with both Belle and Beast in them, the Beast with Birds, and the Belle in the Snow by Tree scene. These are nearly all between $100-200.

I got sucked into this late in the game and I still want to complete my princess set. I just need Snow and Cinderella to do that. So there are those of us who do want to collect the ones we don't have even though we were not there from the beginning.

There is something magical about owning an actual piece of film.

A full collection of 24 just sold on eBay for $1,000 + $25 shipping. While that appears to be a good deal, most of the frames/scenes were fairly common. Just an observation to add to the discussion. :)

I saw that. If they had the more rare scenes, I think it would have gone for more!

That's kind of a ripoff that the buyer got for $1000 I haven't added it up but I saw a guy on eBay now has almost one from each (I didn't see Finding Nemo or Peter Pan) listed separately, all awesome scenes, including Snow White and Cinderella and I don't think the bids would equal $1000 even if purchased together.
