Can pins and poker go together…???

Hmmm… They are my two favorite hobbies… but how???

I have an idea!!!!!

I am going to go to my first DSF pin release for the Brave pins… I have never been out to the Soda Fountain this will be my first visit… But what I do know about it is that you have to sit there ALL NIGHT…

Well since I am not one who does well just sitting there, I thought that it might be fun to play a little poker with my fellow pin traders… Not for money… But for PINS…LOL

I would have to guess out of the 100+ people who will be there, that there must be some others who like to stay occupied during the long hours and like to play poker…

So after thinking about it for a while, this is how I think it will work…

We will have short quick No Limit Hold-em Tournaments, there will be a maximum of (7) players in each. (They should last no more than 1 hour for each tourney)

All pins have a set point value based on the special chart below

Entry into a tournament will be 100 points

These will be structured multi-level tournaments with the blinds increasing on each round

Rules will follow basic W.S.O.P. rules of play.

These will be winner takes all tourneys…

Pin Point Values for entry and for play

All pins must be true Disney Pins (No Scrappers please)

A Rubber pin back 1 point (see note below)

A basic Trader/Hidden Mickey 5 points

A Limited Edition Pin (2500+) 10 points

A Limited Edition Pin (1000-2499) 20 points

A Limited Edition (500-999) 30 points

A Limited Edition Pin (100-499) 50 points

A Limited Edition Pin (1-99) 100 points

PoDM Any Movie Any Scene 100 points

Pins not falling into the above categories or that you feel may be valued at the full 100 point entry must be agreed upon by fellow players…

***NOTE*** All Pins must have rubber backs upon entry, and only pin values may be used for entry into the tourney… But after entry, the backs may be removed and count as one point each for purposes of betting during play…(LOL…The more pins you buy in with, the more bonus points)

I am sure there will be a learning curve on the first tourney, but if it goes well and there is enough interest, I bet we can play till morning…LOL…

So if you are interested in maybe killing some time while waiting through the night playing some poker, please comment to this thread that you may be interested… And I'll bring the cards...:hsd:

We play poker for pins but usually it's only for a few pins or 1 LE per person sort of thing. You will find a lot of WDI LE200/LE300 sale pins in the mix that cost $2-$5 each. Or DSF $4 or $5 sale pins. So a person could buy in for only $4 worth of pins. Hardly worth a PODM or other 100-pointer. (And you have sort of manipulated the system with your wants, since you want the POMH pins you rank them worth 100 points but LE100's (DA) are only 50? Perhaps your caveat is sufficient in that you can ask for acceptance into 100 pt. status.

I have probably 1000+ mickey rubber backs but I'm not going to sit and count them out. Maybe a max of 20 points can be made up with rubber backs? So if you have 80 in pins you can do 20 backs but if you have 70 in pins you need another 10 point pin and 20 backs. I'd say 2 points for the new colored backs, those are kinda cool and you have to buy them. Or better yet, just take rubber backs out all together! No serious pin collector needs more backs!

I'll be there so someone bring a deck of cards and some poker chips. A fold out table would be really nice too!

I bet my hubby would be up for it, but he will be alone with no-one to hold his line spot. And will all the issues regarding place holding he is not budging that way no-one can question his right to pins. besides, to me.... pins are not betting fodder. lol

That sounds like fun... Like I said I have never been there before, so not sure what to expect... As far as gearing to my wants ... LOL ... Why not HAHAHA of course all pins are based on their true value, I just had to comment on PoDM's because we love them so and if I can win one in a hand of poker...LOL... I can't wait to experience the phenomena known as a DSF Release... I hear they can be interesting...LOL

Is this really going to be another camp out all night event? I was hoping it wouldn't.

DSF releases have become more and more interesting with the colorful characters that show up and try to pull crap. Good honest pin traders are banding together agains these bullies.

Yes, the Brave releaes will require overnight. Too many people talking about it being so for it not to be. I hope they do line tickets to hold spots like at UP. I heard the Hinged books overnighter didn't have line spots and it got a bit messy here and there. Line spot tickets around 9pm and then vouchers at 9am. That's how you do it!

Bring ear plugs if you plan to sleep. Between the Hollyweird-o's, the night club across the street, and snoring/chatty people you won't sleep well without them. If you want to be up all night, you won't be alone. Some will be up all hours. There is a bathroom we can use and usually we can leave the line and grab food or put stuff in our cars.
