I wouldn't say PTD's are dead. They are released in batches of 4 pins now and inevitably some of th pins in those batches are not particularly popular which leads to the longer time between flips. For example, The latest releases... Baloo and Flik sold out in less than 24 hours. I'm pretty sure the others will be around for another week or so. This morning, as soon as Flik sold out, the line completely disappeared.

I'm rather happy the craze has calmed down. It led to such an inflated scalping market that it rather soured my taste for the series. I think that DSSH is deliberately coupling less popular characters with "surer" hits to try and keep them lasting as long as possible without sacrificing (as much) the hype. Otherwise, they'll fly through their reserves and have to go on hiatus again, which I remember them doing some time ago. So I wouldn't say they're dead at all; in fact, I'd say this current structure is a massive improvement on the past system. Of course, this is coming from someone on the east coast, so I have no idea how the actual energy of the store has been effected.

I don't think they're "dead," but they are no longer the big time greatest thing to try to get. I think a combination of four released at a time (with a mix of popular and less popular characters), and the rise of ACME and fantasy pins as the main overall interest in pin trading, had led to a slowing of PTD sales.

However, one thing PTDs have going for them, that a lot of other pins don't, is the featuring of single characters that may otherwise not get pins.

Thank goodness they're not as big anymore. I think Some people must have treated DSF as their full time jobs with some of the releases!! The characters are obscure but also in relation to the huge WDI pins, they seem tiny (at least to me). If I am spending $45 on a pin I would rather get more pin for my money
