Quality of Pins

I did not notice when I bought it, but I own the mickey as a Jedi with lightsaber crossed with Darth Vader. This is part of the Mickey's Pin Odyssey, on it it has a spinner piece with one side Jedi and the other side saying Sith. Upon looking at it recently, the Jedi and Sith on when facing outward are upside down. Has anyone else seen more mistakes in pins you have bought directly through Disney. While this is a pin that I would not trade, the thought of someone believing it to be a scrapper makes me wonder how many pins are being called scrappers when in all actuality it is just a degradation in the qualty control from Disney.

I agree. The poor workmanship worries me as well. I hate to think someone would believe I'm sending them a scrapper of a pin I bought directly from Disney just because its made poorly.

I've seen some pretty awful pins being sold at the parks. The recent princess carousal pins are a perfect example. Quality control is a hit or miss with Disney recently. Some people do think a pin is a scrapper just because its bad quality even though it was purchased from Disney. So yes, if you ever tried to trade it someone might think its a scrapper unless that happened on other pins. However pins that have spinners or a 3D element to them usually are not scrapped. Its too much work involved.

It would seem that it's not just those selling scrappers that are more interested in the $ than in perpetuating the hobby. If the quality does not improve, it might drive people away from collecting, if they're not getting what they consider good value for their money. Time to stop worrying about how fast you can sell them all and worry about what it is that you are trying to sell!

Yeah I totally agree. And in all honesty, with this pin that I bought that has the spinner upside down I think in my mind that makes it a little more special and rare. With any of my Star Wars pins while I may consider trading them at some point if I was offered the right trade, for me they are ones that I want to keep in my collection since I am a big Star Wars fan.

There are a small amount of traders who collect error pins. Errors usually consist of upside down elements or missing lettering or some other missing element from the intended artwork.

I'm a Star Wars fan too, not huge but I get what I can and some not on PP as they were released up here before it became Disney and their quality is a little iffy too, lol. My grandson loves them though, and for now, he considers them his property, along with the pirates, when he's here. (his sister claims all the princess ones, lil bro the Cars so the boys need to expand b/c sis has a lot more LOL)
