Reselling..... Mental crisis!
I don't live close to my second home "Disneyland" but when I do get down to Nirvana I do have a few people who I trade with throughout the year I pick up pins for but other then that is should be free game.

I hate the price police!!! If you don't want to pay the price asked, don't! It is that simple!!! People's time and effort is worth something and the price police forget that or just don't care.

I think that the people complaining should be shunned, not the sellers.

Good luck Pixie!!!

IMO if you buy the pin, it's yours to do whatever you want with, period. What I don't understand is why some people feel the need to give the people that do sell pins for a profit such a hard time because they can only sell it for what someone is willing to pay for it and you never know what they paid or traded for that pin, not everyone gets them at retail cost. Even with trading there is a monetary value of each pin and no way is anyone going to give up a highly valued pin for one they can get at retail.

For me personally, I've always gotten things for people at cost plus shipping in the hopes of pin karma coming back to me, or being able to trade fairly with these people in the future when they have something I want, etc. It's called symbiosis, having a mutually beneficial friendship. However due to several of the people I've gotten things for at cost then refusing to work out a trade with me later on when they had something I want, has made me rethink doing this for people in the future. I personally have no problem with people reselling the pins they get. What I do have a problem with is people(not naming names) getting their significant other, their two cousins, and three babies, and having each person buy their max so they can turn around and sell them for outrageous prices on ebay. But hey, if you want to get a set for yourself either for you or to trade, and get a set to sell, then go for it! Just my two cents.

I agree with what you said, I try to be fair in hopes of "pin Karma" returning to me, but when I gave up 2 DSF pins I found out were worth a ton everywhere and gave a LM PODM to add in return for a Super snow white PODM, I later saw they were at DSF for Cinderella pin release I kindly asked if they would trade me for 1 Cinderella pin and I got shot down, Ouch that hurt! but my heart continues to want to be helpful, but sometimes I just want to throw a pin up on Ebay to make some $$ off it too, especially since another member of the family is constantly harrassing me to get rid of my hooby, because what good is doing under my bed, it's not making me any money! lol. I heart my collection! no matter how much it annoys other family members, yay for my son who joins me on pin adventures at least he likes my hobby.

Fact of the matter is there's NO LAW which states a person can't buy a piece of merchandise today and sell it for whatever they want tomorrow (unless your trying to scalp tickets in front of a concert venue or sports stadium). As unfortunate as it may seem to some of you: its true. I don't find the problem in people make money selling their pins for whatever prices they desire. I don't think ANYONE has the right to tell another person what they can sell their merchandise for; that's ultimately the sellers decision and just because you can't afford it doesn't mean that someone else won't buy it for that price.

What most of you fail to realize is that the price of Disney Collectibles only rise to such crazy amounts because YOU (NOT ANYONE IN PARTICULAR), the collector, drive up the prices in auctions and than that pretty much sets the stage for the secondary market. If collector's REFUSED to pay crazy amounts for some of their pins and gave themselves a cut-off point we might all have an easier time collecting. So next time you want to give a seller attitude or a dirty look because of what they're selling their merchandise for you should blame the buyers who've spent the crazy amounts on similar sets. Example: I wish I could have owned a 17" Snow White doll or Disney Designer Princess Pin Set (I was even willing to trade a Designer Villain Set for a Princess Set), but people are too greedy and they want money on top of a trade or they want $1000's for Snow White. So now I'm "Snow White-less & Disney Designer Princess Pin-Less."

Here's a simple solution: if you don't want to spend the amount of money 1 particular seller is asking than DON'T! No one is twisting anyone's arms on this site; so there really shouldn't be all the catty-ness. I have zero tolerance for attitude...IDK I guess as a NY'er we have less patients. I don't do the whole internet arguing thing though its so HS!

Just cuz yer pins are under the bed "not making you money" doesnt meanits not an acceptable hobby. I bet some of those family members have a hobby that is a money drain, not a money maker too. At least you have shiney pieces of metal to show for it.

I want to thank everyone on here for your viewpoints. many very definite points are made.

chief among them:
  • if a buyer doesn't like the price, they don't need to buy it.
  • A seller can set whatever price they want.
  • I shouldn't feel guilty for wanting to sell pins for "market" value instead of original retail.
  • People should not criticize others for selling pins.
  • There's a difference between what I propose and "scalpers" or bulk re-sellers.

Thank you! you have all been very helpful, and you have set my mind at ease.

Still cant decide if I am gonna go to DLR for the Black Friday PODM release. LOL
