A while ago I bought this pin because I thought it would be a good trader. I don't collect Jasmine so it was always meant to be a trader. Shortly after she arrived I noticed some scratching on one of the gold rings at the bottom. I got her for a really good price, new on the card, so maybe the pin was discounted because of the damage? It wasn't described as damaged when I bought it. If I was keeping it I wouldn't mind so much since it's still a nice pin and the scratch is not on the main part of the pin, but I haven't been able to trade it because of the scratch. I get tons of offers for her but I always tell people about the scratched area so they know what they are getting and so far I haven't had any takers. :( I am not interested in trying to get a refund from the seller because I can't say for 100% sure that the scratch didn't happen here since I didn't really get to examine the pin right away and it was a a whole day before I noticed the scratch. (FYI- not a DPF transaction) It's not likely, but it is possible that something happened to it here.

What I want to ask is... Is it EVER okay to trade a pin with a scratch? Like can you trade for something of less value than you would normally get (disclosing the scratch before trading of course)? Or is a scratched pin completely worthless for trades? I thought about sending it as a zap but is that even okay? Like, would it be considered rude to zap someone with a scratched pin? What about trading with a cast member? Is a scratched pin just completely taboo in all circumstances?

Here is a pic of the pin... The scratch is on the lower part of the left golden ring.

Thats a beautiful pin,I would trade for it and heres why,her face is NOT damaged!!it looks like the orig card,I think if I zapped someone with it,I would write a note saying'I am zapping you with this pin,I am so sorry that theres a scratch on it,but I saw you needed it and I assume you would not trade it as I seen it on your want list!something around that line.and if its on the orig card,I would NOT see a prob either.
Like I said I would trade for it,its very pretty..and I collect sparkly things

Any damage to the pin should allways be disclosed before trading, I hate it when one comes and its damaged and you paid a lot or traded really hard for it without knowing. I have sold scratched pins and I have traded for pins I know are damaged but pictures are exchanged and then its your choice. Small scratches really wouldnt effect how hard I trade or buy a pin for. really big ones may, unless its super super damaged I doubt it would affect my decision, your pin is barely damaged and as others have said the main picture isnt damaged. One of my sisters holy grails is the cheshire cat on the sofa with all the other cats, a friend said they had it and would trade with us but it was pretty damaged, she sent it to us for us to see and then said we could decide, she still loved it and we traded no problem.

Also for anouther note some pins Iwould expect to come damaged / flawed, half of my collection is old pins or sedesma pins they arent the quality of pins today and often have imperfections / scratches / aging. When I trade or buy them I expect them to not be 100%

It is a beautiful pin. I would not hesitate to trade for it. I do know some would not trade for it so disclosure is a must but I feel most would not care since it is not on the main part of the pin.

I have a DSF LE300 right now that's scratched and because of that, I'll only trade it in person. That way the prospective new owner can see everything before making a commitment. I think that should be the only way to do it in cases of pins with questionable attributes.

I recently sold a pin for way less then what it might have been worth but I got money back. I too had gotten as a trader and was not super happy about the conidition. I was thinking I would trade in person and then person knows what they are gettin. But I ended up selling it on facebook, I fully described the flaws that I noted and said the pin was in "good" condition. I also stated probably better for someone keeping the pin. I even asked the person who bought it, if they read my description. Anyway, maybe you can trade it or sell at the value you paid. I think someone will still want it as long as they know. Or zap it like someone else said.
