There are a couple shopping days at Mickey's of Glendale coming up soon. I've never been to one and was thinking of going. Do these events get super busy? Do I need to be there super early? Is there a big selection of pins to choose from? Do a lot of people participate in pin trading?
Any info helps. Thanks!

Ooh, neat! I may actually be able to go out for that.

I've never been, but it does say pin trading is encouraged.

Yes, the D23 Days are very popular. You should expect at least an hour wait to get in the store and an hour wait to check out. As you enter the gate from the parking lot, you are given a number/wristband. They only allow 50 people into the store every half hour. Many trade pins while they are waiting. There is a Starbucks on the WDI campus. The selection of WDI pins varies. They may a few special LE pins released on that Saturday. They also could release a Sorcerer Hat mystery box collection. There are usually sale WDI pins, leftovers from the D23 Expos. You will need your D23 membership card to buy pins or any other items. 2/3 of the store items are unique to Mickeys of Glendale; the rest of the merchandise is from the parks or Disney store.

D23 memberships are free on the Disney Store website. They say you don't get to go to the shopping days but they have never enforced that rule. Just show them then email that says you have a membership and they will let you in. Or just come and ask someone if they have a spot. Chances are pretty good someone will drag you in with them.

I think the 4/26 event will mostly be sale pins of stuff that hasn't sold out. Those glass bubble 60th anniv. Sme vinylmation pins, still Star Tours stuff, Bear jamboree, the holiday train middle cars, pressed pennies, etc. If you've been holding onto WDI pins meaning to trade them, these events can devistate your trade values if the pins are still there and dropped to like $4.

The May event is the mine car one, I expect some new pins then for the mine car ride with the dwarfs.

The June event is probably just more of the same. They did the new pixar characters with sorcerer hats in January, Cinderella characters in Sept. and D23 was last year. They haven't done a mystery set of sorcherer hats since before D23. D23 just had D23 sorcerer hats each day. I'd love to see some new Sorcerer hats! We usually see a Mother's Day and a Memorial Day pin so maybe those will last if it's not a popular pin. Then Earth Day is 4/22 this year, they usually do those. So there may be some random new stuff at full price too.

I'm going to try my best to get to the April event, even just for the experience. I have the Autism Speaks walk that morning in Pasadena and am carpooling, so it all depends on what time I finish the walk and get back home to change/grab my pins.

If my roommate doesn't want to come then I don't mind letting someone else come in as my guest once I get there. I'm guessing I'll be able to get there sometime between noon and 1pm.

:) True...but I'll just be hopeful that either I'm done earlier and can get there earlier, or that the crowds will have died down somewhat by the time I get there.

i am trying to go to the one next weekend, and my D23 card still has not been delivered, and i called to ask if i can show my reciept, and the cs person on the phone, said no, that they need the card to be present... really hope it shows up, cause i have a trade worked out with someone to complete on that day, and i REALLY want that pin lol

I went last year and didn't get there until closer to 8 and we waited for about 2-3 hours to shop. It's pretty organized but it's slow moving getting everyone through the shop. They give you wristbands when you walk in though so you're not bound to stay in any line. The grounds are very nice and there's a Starbucks too so it certainly wasn't the most painful wait of my life. Even my toddler son had fun running around the grounds and toddlers aren't known for their patience! A lot of people pin trade while they wait.
