Ut-ohhhhhhhhhhhh...

We just got our e-mail that the mystery set for the event will be delayed past the days of the event.

They're giving us the option of getting it in the mail later, or getting a refund.

People are going to be PISSED- they have a lot of fun trading these AT the event to get a full set. Out of all the things to be late, this was probably the worst.

Tough luck for Disney, and us.

This also happened at the Star Wars "Rebel Rendezvous" Event with a set of pins!! First they pulled the "For Every Laugh There Is A Tear" set and now the Mystery Sets are delayed. They, the Mystery Sets, are a big part of the Trading FUN that occurs at the Event. Terrible news overall!!

Disney thank you--thanks for putting the final nail in my pin trading hobby. So done. Price gauging, drama, expensive events, basically NO PTN nights in WDW anymore,,,then the Tears pins, which was actually why I was going and now the set i really wanted but need to trade to obtain is delayed? What a load of bull. They have money and they can make sure production happens, but as they dont care or oversee the scappers being made in China they dont care if event pins that we ALL PAID ALOT TO GO TO are ready on time? RUDE. My last event. And im cancelling mine also cause im not paying another $3 perpin to mail all over the US to finish my set. Tori made a good point on FB, we are all writing to ask for them to disclose the chasers to see if we want to bother buying them, they owe us at least that.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with mine yet, I'll mostly likely keep them. As an Up collector, I was super excited about the Pixar Tears set. Now, my wife is pretty disappointed, as she was going to try to trade and complete the set of Small but Mighty.

Are there any other sets that can be traded for that will be at the event? I like to collect low LE pins, but my wife is all about the park traders. She will be going for some hidden mickey sets earlier in the week :).

I am hoping they make sure the boards and/or gifts are very good to make up for the mistakes. Hard to fathom one item being pulled and another item not being available until well after the event. It's a pretty big snafu. However, Disney has always been a company that does a great job figuring a way to make up for it.
i remember when people were very upset over Room for One More. In the end, Disney did a great job with that event. Hopefully, this one turns out as well. Otherwise, I fear what will happen in the future. This event is sold out.

I also cannot believe Disney didn't go the extra mile to ensure Small but Mighty set would be ready & shipped for the event we have known about for over a year. I really enjoy trading them to complete the set at the event! will keep my boxes, bu I'm very disappointed w this BIG delay :( BOO

I declined mine. Not worth the shipping cost to try and complete the set online with a dozen people. There was only one or two I particularly wanted anyway. Super disappointed.

Right now we still have ours on order, but I agree that the chasers will largely determine whether this set is worth the cost. Given the additional trade burden/cost Disney has put on those of us who don't live near WDW or DLR, they really should disclose the chasers.

I also love the completely callous "Missed It's Flighty" statement that Disney put on the email. As if a screw up this big is solved by a flippant statement and some free shipping.

I declined mine as well.. I figure I'll grab them when the hit the parks after they do arrive if I like the chasers..

Wow...and the event this year just gets worse and worse. I think the For Every Laugh There is a Tear set was the best set to be announced at the event and they pulled that one (because people complained, are you kidding me? What was so wrong about the set? Simba? If you can't stand to have Simba die on a pin, DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE! IT'S FAR TOO GRAPHICS FOR YOUR CHILD!)

Now this set is "missplaced." It's like wow, boy am I glad this year I did not go. The sad part is the theme of this year is really good "award-winning pins" could have literally meant "the most acclaimed Disney movies out there" which would have consisted of Oscar-winning (Frozen/many Pixar movies), and other nominated movies (Little Mermaid/BatB). Instead what we get is joke pin of "best phrase" and "best hair" and a lot of Figment and movies that aren't that popular. If I go next year, Disney is gonna have to announce a REALLY good theme...

Declined my boxes. No point getting "stuck" with pins I didn't want with no one to trade with in person. The 1 or 2 pins I liked (the Mice & Sebastian) aren't worth the trouble.

It's a little off topic but, it doesn't seem how "Great" a theme is announced. Pin design just gives us the Fab Five & Figment, year after year!! When are they going to realize that "Pin Collector" doesn't mean "Mickey Collector"??? At least, last year's Villains theme was different (& very little Figment, thank goodness). The theme of an Disney "Oscar night" could have been great with pins from many of their AWARD WINNING movies (Best Picture, Best Music, Best Song, Best Animation, etc.). Oh well, it won't change until we stop buying but, if we stop buying, they will probably just stop doing Events entirely. Can't win.

Just my 2 cents. :tigger: Sue

After careful consideration, I kept mine ... but only because I figured the odds of being able to trade for the one pin I need from the set (Pascal, of course) are slim to none without having others to use to trade. Plus, I'm absolutely terrified that I'll need chasers from this set for my collection - and again, not have anything to use to trade for them.

The only good thing is that Disney will be shipping them to us at their cost, but even still ... this event is showing poor planning and I do hope that they plan to make it up to us somehow. Arrival/departure gifts never were discussed prior to the event, but the lack of PWP I do find disappointing. It seems that every year, the price of the event goes up and the offerings decrease - in almost every sense. I don't want to complain too much, for fear there will come a time when Disney will just decide that this pin event isn't worth the time and effort it takes to host it and just cancel them all together.

No, I completely agree, Sue, sometimes you just can't win no matter what you do.

Good Post, Dancecats! Expresses many sentiments of Forum members, me included. I do hope Disney has some NICE surprises for us

I'm thinking we are going to keep them, currently debating if we are calling to keep less than we currently have on order... Hmmm... 8 Days till I leave and I really hope that the commemorative gifts are good. As a huge fan of Figment I hope his role as MC comes thru.

They did list something about "gifts" on the agenda posting:

Oh I forgot to post - When I called to adjust the DH's RSP I asked and they will have more event only merchandise in the store.

Called Disney Events - We can adjust numbers and management is currently in meetings regarding releasing what the chasers are.
