January theme: So... not a princess.
This month I am auctioning off a couple different pins which can be grouped in this category. Either because they ARE princesses but should not be... Or because they should be, but are NOT.
First in this series of auctions is:: Mulan.
Mulan is NOT a princess. She is the only child, daughter, to a retired GENERAL in the Chinese army. She has no blood ties to the imperial family. At the end of the movie she is given many honors from the Emperor, but she is not adopted as a daughter of the empire. In the second movie, she is given the task of GUARDING the princesses, and is engaged to be wed to the new general, Li shang. Not to spoil it for those who have not seen the sequel, but she also is ALMOST married off to some foreign dignitary whom she was supposed to be bringing the princesses to. She was bringing the princesses to this guy for him to chose a wife. NEVER in either movie is she portrayed as a true princess. And yet Disney saw fit to give her "official" Disney princess status.
So, you like this pin? Bid whatever you like. However, bids of characters that should be princesses, or princesses that should NOT be princesses will get a closer look.
