So I've been looking for a number of trades on PinPics and I've come to accept that certain members on PinPics will not respond, but I am continually frustrated by all Anonymous Traders. What is their purpose? Other than to drive me crazy and create unreal Trade/Want numbers that don't reflect actual traders. Can someone please explain to me why PinPics allows a trader to be Anonymous? Has anyone ever traded with an Anonymous Trader?

I thought the same thing before I actually traded with an anonymous trader. I'm not sure why they choose to make themselves anonymous, though.

Im pretty sure anon traders are people who turn off making their username public thats all. I just did it with mine and it shows that Im not trading a pin when I am so thats pretty much it.

I too have traded several times with anon. Traders, the neat thing though is if they send you a pin trading request then their pin pics ID shows up

I asked one once, as I had had a couple of successful trades with her, and she gave me her user name for future trades.. Part of it is so people can not try to work trades out specifically for that member. Having a viewable account leaves them open to trade requests daily that the other party knows was sent, so being anonymous gives them the anonymity to not respond and it does not hurt the other's feelings, since they do not know who got the request.

OK do not shoot me here..I am one of them on PP..I always get SPAM from other PP members trying to sell me pins or lopsided trades NOT using the T/A
I figure I am a member here...they can just look at my traders/wants...and I always got SPAM out the rump as well..it was bad...some would use the T/A
when I had my ID only showing ..just to try and sell me pins I had on my want list,it was quite annoying too

Sorry about that:(

Judy

One nice thing about being anon is that if you have a pin that is in high demand, people don't realize it is you that is getting the request and can't give you guilt trips or try to pressure you into trading. I don't believe it is anyone creating false numbers but trying to protect themselves from being overwhelmed with requests. The traders that I know personally who are anon have many high end pins and don't want to deal with all of the pm's or confrontations in the parks.

I didn't get it at first but I started getting bombarded with nusiance emails from a certain member so I made my username annonymous - it is currently normal now but if I do get annoying emails from that family I will have to go annoymous :)

It took me a few days to realize the do's and dont's of internet trading. But I had a few pins listed and I got Absurd requests. (i.e. a Hidden Mickey for an Event only LE 500 pin. What the heck?) I can see Why some members have gone anonymous. To save themselves from the crookedness of the pin world with lopsided people.
Understandable. Which is why I'm not going to internet trade for awhie. (I gotta Build myself up first.)

if EVERYONE decides to be anonymous, and I do HOPE that DOESN'T happen, it will make Pin Pics TA's very confusing! I have my username on pinpics- same as the one here (suzanneb). I do get the occasional lopsided offer, but it's really not all that bad. I really do like knowing to whom I send TA's.

The one thing I would say about anonymous traders, is that (at least from me) they get the same trade offers from the same traders all the time. If I have asked a known trader for a trade and they say 'no', then I always make sure to remove them from my future TA requests as a courtesy. However, if they are anonymous I have no idea if I've sent the same TA request a few days/weeks ago so I don't worry about it and send it again!! If they want me to stop, they'll have to tell me!

Does anyone know if their "Trade Assistant" is turned off, do they show up as an "Anonymous Trader"?? I AM an "actual" Trader but, I only trade in person or with people I have met. TTFN

Hi! I just figured out that I am showing up as one of the "Anonymous" Traders on PinPics!! I didn't think so since I have NEVER turned on my Trade Assistant but, I checked a pin with only 5 members trading and the other 4 are named & 1 Anonymous shows, so that is me. Sorry but, my life & job have always kept me too busy to be able to spend time daily reviewing my email for Trade Requests. I AM an "actual trader" but, I only trade in person or with people I have met. PinPics allows ALL members to keep track of their Collections, Wants AND Traders without the pressure of having to trade online. I think that is fair & does NOT create "unrealistic" numbers. Different strokes for different folks is what freedom is all about. Maybe some of the future upgrades to PinPics will allow for listings with only the Traders with their Trade Assistant turned on showing in the numbers?? TTFN

Well, I do understand them. Thanks to a trader bombarding me, and probably asking some friends to do the same for a certain pin, I have turned my TA off. This person is a still hunting me. I am on vacation now and still getting requests via other ways than TAs. So, before getting worked up about anonymous traders, think why they chose to go that way :(
