Soda Fountain pins
Thanks for the information. I will have to get posting then lol
Thanks for the replies.
I've noticed how difficult some dsf pins are to get hold of, especially the El Capitan pins it seems and the Tangled ones they did. I was lucky and got them from ebay before Tangled seemed to really explode in popularity and price. Hopefully I'll want a higher percentage of the unpopular ones than the popular though (even if I doubt it).
I collect princesses mainly, so I can see it being the case that they are the most sought after lol.
And thanks for the luck
LOL!!! Well I wish you luck with that, ha ha, that is necer how it works, at least for me!!!I always want the ones that are the most desirable and hardest to get my hands on, ugh! LOL! I hope you have TONS of luck! If I lived by a Disney hot spot, I would pick you up pins in a heartbeat, and only for cost + shipping, I would not make money off anyone! Wish I lived close!!!!
It's easy not living here to say you'd just buy for others and not sell them. Then you go and stand in line for hours, pay for parking, drive half hour plus both ways, and the pins start to have a little more opportunity cost value. Then you see how many times the pin sells for double or triple. Then you see people that asked you to buy them a pin just turn around and trade it for something else. Then you stop buying for people.
Pins like the Avengers, Storybooks coming soon, Jessica LE150's are worth of an older LE. But I garuntee you no one is going to sell you their HTF old LE for their cost price. I don't get why people think just because it's new it's only worth the sticker price? Or because it's a pin trader delight which is technically a GWP is only worth a GWP pin. Uh, it's an LE300 GWP that cost $13, not a $3 PWP pin from the parks... If a pin sells out the morning of, like the Avengers pins, it is worth well more than the sticker price. Those marquee's are selling for like $65. That's a pretty desirable auctions pin or mini-grail pin at that price. But find me a person that will sell a desirable DA pin for $15 and I'll be floored. I will trade for something I really want if I can, if not, I'll probably sell my extra.
Maybe the veteran traders that already have their old pins do this. But the new traders that are trying to get their most wanted pins out of veteran traders don't have many other opportunities to get pins worthy for trade.
More exclamations are needed to make your point!!!!!!!!!! All I'm saying is its easy to do it for nice people. Or people that can reciprocate at DLRP or WDW. Then someone takes advantage if your generosity and the nice feeling goes away. It's always easy to coach from the couch.First off, I was not talking about old pins, I was talking about just released pins! And I fo not live by a Disney location that sells them anyway, so it was an "if" situation!!! However, IF I did live where I could get new releases, I would be paying for parking and waiting in line for me anyway, so if I could pick up some pins for others, to be a kind and caring person, I would most definitely sell it for my cost and shipping! It is about helping people, and a fellow collector at that, and I really do not care what MOST people do because I am not most people!!! If more people were more about helping a fellow human being than maybe this world would be a better place!!!! Maybe MOST people should learn to be less greedy!!!! So anyway, please do not tell me what I would do, because I make my own decisions and actually like just making people smile, so that would be enough extra pay for me!!!!!!

I know your story bud, and you could use a few good deals your way. All I'm saying is it's easier said them done. I sold an Avengers marquee for $35 to a stranger but they were going for $60. I don't set the going price but I'm not giving these away for nothing.
You also have to remember that people are limited to only being able to buy one or two. If he/she wants one for themselves that leaves one pin they can use to trade. And given the complete and utter lack of new cool LE pins coming out, these are the only pins they may have to trade. Sometimes you have to make it worth it to expect them to give up a potentially great trader. It's usually better (for me at least) if someone offers a trade, rather than just wanting a pick up. I try to do this for the ever-awesome UK pins that just keep coming. Then both parties are getting benefit. Mutualism. For example, I can't make the hinged book release and no one is just gonna give up their extra set so I can have one at cost. I know this and understand. I am offering up a beloved tales pin valued at $45-$60 in pretrade for someone to get me just one book pin bc I know it would trade well for them. Gotta make it worth it for them . now I just have to cross my fingers and toes that it all works out.
Now, once the craziness of a release is over and the pins are just available to walk in and buy, then of course offer them up at cost.
Blah, blah, blah, yaaaaaayyyyy pins!!! goodnight
I never charge anyone extra for the pins because I'm just that nice. Plus I love getting the positive rating on my iTrader. It's a win-win situation either way. On top of that, I'm out there for my personal enjoyment so why not help someone out and put a smile on their face?
That being said, I'll pick up ANYTHING from Walt Disney World as long as the recipient is in the USA. I charge the price of the product + shipping.
