Hi everyone. . . warning, this is a shameless plug, warning!:p

With all the attention to scrappers lately due to the arrests and everything, I've noticed some people stating they throw their scrappers in the trash upon finding out what they are. For those individuals and for any others, I'd like to invite you to try a different solution.

Donate your unwanted scrapper/counterfeit pins as game prizes for an Autism Awareness walk (similar to Relay for Life events). All of the games are free for the children, and being a teacher, I can attest to how much their eyes light up when they see their favorite character on a shiny piece of metal! I’ve used scrapper pins (with a black X on the back) in my good behavior/good work treasure box before, and they always delight.
If interested, please PM me for further details. Please note, there will not be any monetary compensation for your donation (aka I am NOT buying your scrappers from you), but rather a good feeling knowing your pin made a child smile.

Those who have been on the boards for a little bit may remember me asking previously for good will donations of scrapper/counterfeit pins. For this year's event, I collected over 300+ pins from the DPF community to use as game prizes. Due to the event's success, it will now be an annual event so I am collecting again for next year's event. We had many children play the games multiple times JUST to get a prize so they could get a pin for mom, dad, sissy, brother, gma, etc.

Please keep this event and myself in mind when going through your collections and finding the blasted fakes. If you no longer wish to keep them, please do not throw them in the trash, but rather - PM me and contribute to a great cause!

Thanks ya'll, and I'll get down off my soapbox now!

I have accumulated a bunch more for you just need your addy again :) And hey everyone this is for a great cause and gets the scrappers out of the pin trading system just mark the back with an x and send them away :)

Yes, there was nothing better than knowing that huge box of pins was going to make a bunch of kids happy. Glad you could use them and I will definitely continue to send more if I get any more :)

Another teacher I work with always wears one of her pins to work, so started doing it too. I thought it would just be something fun for the kids to see, but they all end up begging me to give them one. I wish I could! So I can verify that this will be something very exciting for these children.

Real good idea. And as long as we mark the back sum how. Its still out of the game. I was thinking that sum day we the DPF should set up a table at the picnic area and help ppl all day. We can sign up for when we can b there. The goal would b to help ppl learn to tell fakes on there own and also to take the fakes out of the hobby. Mayb we give kids a real trader pin for every fake they bring us. And no lots. Just us helping kids with lanyards and mayb cm pins they got in park. Just a idea.

No worries Rocke! PM is on it's way! I'm collecting early this year - and hoping to break last year's total. I'm pretty sure that'll be an easy task due to the generous nature of DPF members (Ms. Brea definitely got us off on the right foot. . . lol)!

KT - I put a large X or two on the back of all scrapper pins I hand out to the kids. They're told they're special pins/prizes and to hold onto them. However, if they do go to disney and trade, in theory a CM will notice the marks on the back and hopefully pull them out of circulation. If anyone goes to the parks and finds pins with black X's on the back or a mickey head colored in (one of the early ideas before I decided on the X's) please let me know!

Once again - just PM or leave me a message here if you'd like to contribute. You guys rock! :)

Cool way to get rid of scrappers. I actually give them to my kids' teachers to give out in the classroom as prizes.

I'm going to be sending you some scrappers as soon as I can find them. I'm getting ready to go through my pin books. I have 9 to go through and much more.

Please send me your address, please.

That's an idea I never thought of. I'm sure the kiddos would love them just the same!! :)

Not sure how exactly to phrase it for that thread, so KT if you'd like, you may champion it :hsd:
