Stamp Pins

I’m with you. I don’t think they are all that. The best stamps I’ve seen are Loungefly Winnie the Pooh. I just want my characters. From PALM to fantasy to Imagineering…all I see are stamp pins. I don’t get the hype or the constant production!
Curious your thoughts- do you love the stamps?

People collect stamps, people collect pins, maybe they figure the collection crossover is high. Plus the DEC stamps are SO high in price now that these third party pin creators (PALM/Loungefly/etc) probably think 'oh thats what people want let's make our own version'!I just think it’s confusing- why everything is a stamp. lol
I think it's the same principle as to why competing movie studios release similar projects at the same time, why clothing stores release similar trends, holiday decor can have the same color palette, etc.I just think it’s confusing- why everything is a stamp. lol

This!
I used to collect stamps when I was little and when the DEC stamps came out, I loved them but have only been successful in trading for a couple of my faves. I have several DEC stamps on my ISOs.
I like stamp pins, although I don't have a desire to chase most of the current series. Just the MOG Park ones, because there aren't a lot of MOG park pins anymore. My favorite stamp series are the vintage Epcot ones.
This one made me cry, back in the day, because I lived so far away from the parks and didn't have money to pay secondary market prices. But then time marches on, pins get forgotten and cheaper, and hopefully your household income increases. And I have them all.
This one, given the age, I thought would be more difficult than it was to collect.
I also have several of the pins that matched the actual USPS stamps that came out in 2004 & 2005.
But what I like about collections like these is that they are perfect for people like me who like buffets vs a la carte. Lots of people have their themes and strictly stick to them. But I like a little of everything. I can't collect 57 movies, but I can collect a series of 57 pins, each focused on a different movie, but matchy matchy. I prefer the WDCS and MOG stamps to the PALM stamps. The designs and execution is a little bit better. But I had access to the PALM stamps, and the others are mostly out of my price range, so I have more of PALM.

It's a trend. It will pass.
I prefer coin-themed pins to stamp pins, but I have always had a thing for big round pins. lol
But I need whatever pin it is so long as it matches my Wonderland theme. Currently looking for the PALM Cheshire stamp.
I don't pay attention to anything unless it's Wonderland. 😉 Or Loki. lolHave you seen the Shanghai coin pins? Those are huge and pretty.

Are you familiar with the Disney stamp stamps? In the late 70's - 90s a bunch of small countries like Grenada, Dominica, Antigua & Barbuda, San Marino, Maldives figured out that if they licensed Disney characters to use on their country's commemorative stamps, they could sell these stamps to Disneyana collectors worldwide, and raise money for their governments. Here's a link to a bit about the history of these stamps. A Brief Look at the Philatelic History of DisneyThose are nice! My thought is where did the design idea for stamps come from and why is it everywhere haha.

In the 90s, someone else decided to take a bunch of these images and make them into stamp pins. Like this one:
So by the time Official Disney Pin Trading started, Disney Stamp pins were already an established theme. And Disney continues to revisit it from time to time.

It's Legal. The easiest way to get the pins through production is to stick to the pre-approved designs in the "look" book / catalog. It seems like whenever new images are added, 2-3 licensees jump on them in addition to whatever Disney place wants them (DLP, DSSH, etc.). So the question is how much more are you willing to pay so new, creative images can go through the extended legal review process?I for one agree that the stamp thing is overdone. Really the mimicking thing in general. Like, why does everyone have to do basically the same thing at the same time? Similar but not quite as extreme right now are the records that DSSH did last year (and this year) and, I believe it was PALM, did them recently. Also the plates at D23 this year and PALM just today. Come on people, get more creative! (As I write this, it's starting to look like PALM is the biggest culprit here.)
That said, I do think the WDI attraction stamps are the best of the bunch. Those are gorgeous pins and a set I am working on collecting.
That’s what I’ve about the Disneyland Ds.i like the stamps but can’t afford them. fantasy stamps are just as expensive but i like that clean look.
