Anyone else ever get stuck and not sure what to collect? I basically have one large collection and 5 mini ones. Well all the pins I want in those collections are hard to find or I have nothing to trade for them. I would have some excellent traders if they weren't part of my permanent collection. A few of my grails no one is trading and god only knows if they'll ever come up on ebay again. So I kind of want to start collecting something just to pass the time while I'm waiting on grails. I tend not to have a lot of traders because I tend to buy pins I like. The pins I buy for traders tend to enter into my collection because I end up liking them. I've been watching a lot of the Disney shorts recently and fell in love with Donald, Chip & Dale, and Minnie. However, I'm a bit overwhelmed with how many pins there are of them. Anyone else have this problem?

Just one idea for you... you could pick Donald, Chip n Dale, or Minnie and focus on one theme.... like dressed as other characters, or something like that. Easy to get some of them, but still fun to get the challenging ones!

I can totally relate to this! Yesterday I was at my D pins and I ended up starting a chip and dale collection because of a pin I liked. I thin it's perfectly fine to start new collections at any time. Our taste changes.
As far as building trades I have no advice because I end up liking the pins I buy specifically for trade. It's the addiction man.

Yep!! I know the feeling!! I have two main collections...
-Brave
-Tangled

then I have a few others I collect because I like them and they are easier than my main two...
-Pixie Hollow
-Monsters Inc
-Duffy HM heads
-Tokyo Sweet Love
-Ariel (just started... x.x)

My boyfriend collects Star Wars... kinda!

I have thought about collecting some other characters... but they haven't worked so well!

I am in the same boat as you. My main collection is "Chip and Dale" which you're right, there's a billion of them. I had no idea there were so many of them. I know I can never get everyone so I just get what I can and I, like yourself, keep so many of the pins I buy I like and keep thus I tend not to get as many traders. Some of the pins out there are absolutely beautiful. What I do like to do is start little mini collections ie; Pieces of Disney Movies, the new monthly "13 pins" and that kind of thing. Disney continues to release monthly pins that eventually becomes a (what I like to call) mini sets. Maybe look at doing that. I don't know how close you are to a Disney park but if you are close enough you maybe should look at collecting hidden mickeys. They can be challenging and it's fun trading off cast lanyards. Hope this helps. Happy trading.

I'm also a big Chip n Dale collector, with almost 2 big pin boards dedicated those little guys!
Yet I also have smaller collections alongside my main one; castles, princesses, attractions, Christmas, cuties, pin trading pins & others!
I built up my traders over time by buying new releases that may trade well (I do this online as I live nowhere near Disney!), moving pins from my collection to my traders once a year and also watching this forum and various Facebook groups for sales that come up. I keep pinpics open as I browse & just pick the good traders.
Sometimes I find it helps to focus on one pin from your wants at a time.

I am same! My main collection is a bunch of random pins and Pocahontas! But I also collect world of color pins! and I have started a side collection of just any princess pins. I also want to start a bolt collection! And there's about 5000 other collections I want to start haha! Bit I'm trying to keep it to just pocahontas, world of color and princesses at the moment!

I also don't have any traders !

I collect lion king as my main, then anything else I like.. For example I also love stitch, so if I see a cute pin with him on it I will get that too. I will never be a completist :hsd:

I hear ya. I don't have good traders because I tend to spend my money on pins that I want for my collection. I don't live close enough to amass a great collection of traders at cost etc. But I collect Snow White, while there are gorgeous grail pins, there are enough that I find pretty to buy on my own and not break the bank lol.

I was able to acquire some of my favorite Snow White pins pretty quickly because they don't sell for that much. The designer pins I wont be able to get for a long time, if ever. However, most of the Snow White pins I want just don't come up on ebay much and I haven't seen them sold here. I've traded for some of my Snow White pins but it has generally just been the OE pins.
