Surprise release up pin
Wow! At least they limited it to one per person (instead of the typical two per person for the LE300s)

Another thing that helps to keep in mind when you see stuff sell on Ebay for high prices. Celebrities use Ebay too. Celebrities are Disney fans. I remember from the early days of Pin Trading that someone saw a famous athlete (but I don't remember who, I think basketball though) walking around WDW with his sons, and everyone had pin lanyards on. So I always assumed that there are celebrity pin collectors (it would be an easy transition especially for an athlete who collects Olympic pins). They probably just tell their PA's what to buy. And a $200 pin is no bother if you are bringing in millions. So when 1 or 2 sell really high, it doesn't mean they are being sold to "normal" people.

Although I was bummed at being Limited to 1, I thought it was nice that people who couldn't camp out got to come and get one. There was even still a handful left when i was leaving. Actually people got alot of the pins in the morning as people werent buying two sets. Everyones broke! ha! And soooooooo glad it was a surprise. I wouldn't have wanted to go through that release....eeek! Time to go pass out....

Current Ebay prices are obviously not for normal people.

There are new listings coming in at $250 OBO, $350 (and no best offer) and a measly $150 (auction style with free shipping)

Looks like some of the DSF shoppers cater to a boutique following

Remember people will have friends buy it to drive price up on eBay. So it may not be a legit sale.

Not saying this does not happen, but I'm hoping for those sellers that use schill buying realize their actual profit margin: for a $200.00 sale, they'd get charged around $16.00 for insertion fee/final value fee/PayPal fee for the "driving purchase", then another $16.00+ for when the item is reposted legitimately sells. These final value fees dip into profit, and in the end, may not be the strategy available.

But you're right - schill purchases happen all the time with pins - it's just funny when the sellers attempting a schill realize at the very end that despite all that effort to drive up the price of a pin, they THINK it will benefit their next same-pin auction. In reality, they didn't come out ahead much at all.

But I think that is only if they let the sale go through. I'm sure there are loop holes where they can cancel the transaction or use other accounts and file for no paying bidders so that they don't have to pay the fees.

That is what I was thinking. I think if the buyer and seller amicably agree to cancel the transaction, a seller can get the final value fees back. Also, the insertion fee is relatively small for BIN listings.

The insertion fees are the small fees, but the final value fees hurt!

Sorry, didn't want to turn this into an eBay selling strategies thread! Moving right along!

Sadly I cant even fathom paying the prices on ebay and this is coming from someone who collects Paris PTN pins and its just not worth the hassle anymore to be an UP completist, It was the first collection I started when I got into pin trading and got caught up and have been on top ever since. Its took me a lot of money to get them all and this one just isnt worth the fight so I think I'll forget about it and leave it lol

One less thing to worry about I guess

Hey - you just never know what's going to come your way. Hopefully prices will come down and eventually you'll get that pin you need.

Sorry Danny. I know how much your UP collection means to you. :/ I am in the same boat with BTs... I hope for both of our sakes the prices go down. I think they might go down a bit with sooo many listings up there right now.

Im hoping the prices will go down, I saw one sell for $100..now I wish I had found that XD it will come to me in the end Im not rushing out for it so nevermind. I can say I have a grail now.
