Tangled Marquee Prices?

Tangled Marquee Prices?
If the box office receipt indicators are considered, I am going to have to say that Frozen is going to surpass Tangled as it currently stands at #22 in the top grossing movies of all times whereas Tangled is #87, and it's still in theaters. While Tangled was a fun movie, I personally prefer Frozen because, like Avatar, it exhibited some of the most incredible visuals, and the ending was non-traditional and unexpected. Granted, there is a lot more attention going to Frozen right now because it is the new thing, it isn't going to fade as Brave did because it is a much stronger movie on many levels. I wouldn't be surprise to see the Mattherhorn transformed into Elsa's ice castle in time, but at the same time, I'm still waiting for Tarzan's tree house to be converted into Rapunzels tower.

They have Rapunzels tower at both parks in Fantasyland. They wouldn't redo Tarzan's treehouse I don't think, not for that. Interesting idea to make Matterhorn Elsa's castle. It's a park staple though. But it would be cool to see them update it. Or add it some other way elsewhere. They don't have a Tangled right anywhere though, so not sure we'll ever see a Frozen ride. BatB doesn't have a ride. Ariel does, Sleeping Beauty does. Cinderella no, just the castle walk through. We won't ever see a Brave ride I don't think.

Of any new ride, I'd like to see them do Crush's Coaster at DCA, exactly like the one in Paris. Or the rumored Star Wars rides like the speeder bike race on the old rocket rodd's track.

While I think it would be cool to put a Frozen ride somewhere in DL or DCA, Personally I would be really disappointed if they changed the matterhorn for it. I think it would be cool if they had a Frozen musical in the theater that use to play Beauty and the Beast (in fact, I think I read that was in the works somewhere?), but I wouldn't want them to put in a Frozen ride at the expense of a classic one.

As far as the Marquee prices, I don't think the Frozen marquee will ever reach the rarity that Tangled is at, but I do think it's sought after-ness (is that a real term? =P) will continue to increase.

Matterhorn is only at DLR so NOOOOO, it cannot be replaced.

I expect an expansion at WDW vs DLR because there is so much more room/land available for expansion. DLR is limited (which is good and bad)...

For whatever reason I can't quote someone on here, but to reply to colorwindpainter who said:

Although I agree that frozen a story is more personal for people, i also see a lot of people turning away or giving up on the frozen pins because of the instant high prices/ trade value people are putting on these pins right off the bat... Example is the new Anna Ptn coming out in march, there are already sellers prices it at $125 out the gate without the pin even being released yet. Even the tangled Ptn from wdw when released went for only about $45- $50 presold. That's a BIG difference!
plus I think frozen is still being over hyped because everyone is jumping on it cause it's new and no one wants to make the mistake, like tangled, and miss out on the " next big thing" and everyone thinks " oh if I start from the beginning I can be a completist" cause that's all I read when frozen was being released... But now that people are realizing it's not that easy I see people giving it up and prices will slowly go down a bit. Not a lot cause I know frozen will stay popular but the prices should go down a bit.

Frozen is insanely bigger than Tangled with the general population than Tangled was. The movie box office proves that, and I think Frozen will be one of the best selling DVD/Blu-Ray movies of all time. Tangled, like I said was cute. It was a new princess, a familiar story. People talked about it. Mandy Moore is kind of a has been. Pascal was cute, Flynn Rider was voiced by Zachery from Chuck which is the only reason I like Flynn. Gothel was pretty good, evil character.

Frozen, I have been in a store on at least 4 occasions and heard a little kid singing "Let it go" at the top of their lungs. Squeaky little voices. I mean, "Now I see the light" or whatever was ok. But Let It Go, the whole sister thing, orphaned off, villain dude is a "playa' ", Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel (Sp?) etc. Olaf talks, Pascal didn't. I still love Pascal. (I'm not a huge fan of Olaf" but people like him. Sven may not be equal to Maximus, but Kristoff equals Flynn I think. Not a huge villain presence, but some people I think are ok or better off without that aspect anyways.

I'm not sure Frozen is really being over-hyped. It is just big. Brave was over hyped. I tried to tell people about how good WiR would be, but few listened. Frozen, yeah, there are a few profiteer types trying to presell your wallet off but don't jump at them right away. But the pins will be hard to get and will be valuable and will trade extremely well. So I can't really fault the valuation, I'm just personally not a fan of presales or people that buy presales. You shouldn't be able to sell if you don't have it in hand. But that's beating the dead horse.

If you aren't one of the 15 million that have seen it since it was posted six days ago, you have to see music video by Alex Boye of 11 year old Lexi Walker singing "Let it Go." on youtube. I think this is another example of how big Frozen has become. The video was shot at the Ice Castle in Midway, Utah (about 30 miles South of Park City.)

Frozen is not over-hyped. The film is wildly successful. People that aren't "Disney" fans know and like Frozen.

I think that Frozen is the beginning of the end for Tangled. The current pin community is obsessed with Tangled, but that is going to change as the pin trading community changes. I suspect that the incoming pin traders are going to be more inclined to want to start a Frozen collection rather than a Tangled collection. So, while the Tangled pins will continue to be rare, there are going to be less people interested in them in the coming years. A lot of pins have had their time in the sun and have faded--ie-donald duck, Maleficent, Haunted Mansion, even Stitch, Tink, and Jessica are nowhere near as popular as they used to be.

Do I think that the R/C, chair, or marquee will ever be "cheap"? No. But I think that their prices will come down and that not all Tangled pins will be in such high demand in the future. The same will happen to Frozen in a couple of years when something even bigger comes along. Brave and WIR were not big enough to knock Tangled down, but I think Frozen is.

Malestrom/Norway in The World Showcase is being turned into a Frozen ride. It is a boat ride on the history of Norway with trolls.
Tangled has a tower with hidden pascals and it is a bathroom.
At DHS BATB has it's own play which is fabulous.

In no way trying to derail this thread, but went to The Disney Store to buy my Tink doll and wanted to get my grand daughter one of those little plastic figurines toys to play with, they were out of everything Frozen. I asked Brandon do you have any in the back as I had grabbed her Sofia the first.
He replied, you are funny, I don't even think Disney would have thought Frozen was going to be this popular. I smiled and said I believed it when we cast members discussed it last year.

I hear you Darris but also like everything else that has been rumored has come true.
Like the next five designer couple dolls I predicted. Like Frozen would not beat Tangled in box office sales. I not only post on here but I moderate on MK's and usually the rumors come true. Do you know where the meet n greet is for Anna and Elsa? Norway!
Now I'm not getting into a heated argument with you, we will have to wait and see.
If the ride closes one day for renovations for a period of time, then we will know for sure. If not it was just a rumor. Yes?

Seriously? Get over yourself and deflate your ego.

1. Everyone knew that the next DC set was going to come out and most knew who was going to be in it.

2. Of course Frozen made more money, ticket prices are higher, 3D, a sing a long and it's been in the theater for 4 months!

3. The rides in the World show case and country specific and are there to educate. So with your thinking we should change O' Canada into a hockey rink because it's popular?

4. Disney is already busy with SW at DLR and Avatar land at WDW. Pretty sure they won't be doing a ride bases on a movie that came out in November!

I agree with that. It was just a reminder that you tried discrediting me in everything I posted. You believed nothing I posted from the dolls to frozen. That was my point and I do not have an ego, never have, never will. Have A Nice Evrning!

On another brighter note, I ordered Kier the look and find Frozen book and I ordered the snowflake gorgeous lanyard from Amy and a sticker book from Disney for when I want to make a shadow box to protect them.

The Tangled Marquee is one of my grails. It will and has been going down in price, but never low enough for me to afford.
Just like someone else stated Frozen are the new hot pins right now until the next hot movie is released in a few years.

I do think that Frozen is slowly becoming bigger than Tangled in the pin trading world, but in terms of pin prices, you'll never see a $2500 Frozen pin, you just won't, because of what people have stated. I think Frozen will overall do better, it had a better story to me, it's receiving more hype around the world, and it made more (even though, as other's have said, it's getting a re-release, sing-along, 3D, 2D, the works which Tangled didn't have) not to mention it's lucky to have "Let It Go" in it's repertoire of songs.

I agree, Matterhorn is a staple. The princesses rarely get rides beyond the "dark rides that take you through the story" because I find they don't lend themselves that well into it :) However, I do see the Matterhorn eventually being replaced since it really is like an ancient version of Expedition Everest at this point.

While I agree I think Frozen itself will beat Tangled out of sheer hype alone, since this is Pin Discussion, I'm guessing this thread was meant to be about which pins will win, and I think in the end, Tangled will come out on top for all the reason you've, and many other people mentioned. I don't think we'll ever see a Frozen pin reach $2500...cause the second it comes out, resellers everywhere to cause the prices to drop!

I agree with that. It was just a reminder that you tried discrediting me in everything I posted. You believed nothing I posted from the dolls to frozen. That was my point and I do not have an ego, never have, never will. Have A Nice Evrning!

I don't mean to prolong this, I just had my fair share of on-topic stuff, and I do hate to get into these types of conversations and generally leave them be, but can I just point out tink that you cannot say "you don't have an ego" after just posting an entire post bragging about how you're always right  It just doesn't work that way. According to Google:

  • 1.
    a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance.

You just made a whole post about how your posts almost always come true as a way to persuade us to listen to you. I'm not saying you're wrong (I'm not), I'm just pointing out that your ego is very high right now, which I'm not saying is right or wrong, just pointing it out ^_^

As for Maelstrom becoming Frozen, it's possible, and I know it's been tossed around (it'd be dumb if it weren't tossed around), but I think it's a bad idea written all over it. Epcot is an informational park where the World Showcase shows off a little bit of all the actual nations around the world. The countries are made to educate people on the rich history of those countries and Frozen, while awesome, isn't a true story and isn't the original telling of The Snow Queen anyways. It's why I believe you don't see any Mulan things in China, and all the other princesses in the other countries beyond Meet & Greets, because a ride on the princesses isn't an educational experience teaching people about the history of the country.

The Maelstrom won't be converted to a Frozen ride because the story of the Snow Queen did not originate in Norway. It was written by Hans Christian Anderson who is from Denmark.

The Tangled Marquee is one of my grails. It will and has been going down in price, but never low enough for me to afford.

Can't help but observe that if you didn't buy everything else that you brag about getting, you probably could afford the Tangled Marquee. All about priorities I guess.

You may have seen that I was in the hospital and now the co pays are rolling in. So yes they are priorities over pins right now.
The only two pins I had to pay secondary market for was the Frozen marquee and I was excited about getting the DLP Anna and Olaf. One day I will be able to acquire the Tangled Marquee, once medical bills are paid.
