Wasn't it only a few years ago that Disneyland had monthly releases of Hidden Mickey pins? I kind of remember it happening one year when I had APs that every month I'd go running around to see if I could find the new hidden mickey pins
Yes, the hidden mickey releases used to be monthly. It was in 2011 that they switched to the two waves of releases - one at the beginning of the year and one mid-year.

Wow, it's been 4 years of switching it over to 2 waves? I got my most recent series of APs in 2008 (stopped in 2014). I loved finding CMs with the new hidden mickeys. I got the tombstones, robin hood silver coins, and more. I think I got the 26 letters too, but that was in 2011 so I guess it was when they were doing the two waves. I remember trading some of the new hidden mickeys for rack pins with the traders at Westward Ho. Ah, those were the days of non-grail trading in the park.

^ I remember when the lanyards were filled with 90%+ real pins and a few fakes. And now it's the reverse. Scary and sad how the times have changed over the past decade.

But yeah, it was also nice when rack pins were cheap enough to trade for hidden mickeys!

I saw the fortune cookie pins at PTN at DLR yesterday. They look way better than the pre-release pictures. And the fortune appears to be all hard enamel, not stenciling as I had assumed they would be. However I am happily able to continue to be able to without them for no particular reason.
