Hey guys,

I haven't been around for a while with life stuff going on, but I was hoping for some opinions.

I like to have my pins displayed. I have a large board in my bedroom with all of my memory pins (I try to collect one pin from every place we stay or visit on our Disney trips or just in general-have the Atlanta braves Mickey pin from our trip there, etc.). My kids each have boards in their room of their collections. McKenzie was so sweet to paint me paintings for Princess and the Frog to put a few pins on, but their room is so small that is the only things I currently have displayed in their room even though their whole room is Princess and the Frog themed.

I'm seriously considering selling the rest of my Princess and the Frog collection. I have almost every pin, but I literally have no room to display them and I'm beginning to feel like it was a total waste to work so hard on this collection only to have them up in a closet. I've also found that I'm so worried about the condition of those pins (not getting damaged, etc) where everything else I don't even think twice about it and just enjoy. Plus the littles are only 4 and 2 so will they even appreciate the collection by the time they are older? Of course, they are sentimental pins I will never let go of, but the majority I bought just being a completist. I could also use the money for so many other uses.

What's your thoughts on this?

If it were me, I would probably sell the pins that don't have a personal connection to me and that I couldn't display. I went through something similar with my vinylmations, and while I didn't try to be a completest, I was trying to get every single design I liked. I ended up refocusing my collection and I only kept vinyls that I could display nicely. I haven't regretted it at all and it has really helped me enjoy collecting more I did the same thing when I got back into pins, and trimmed down my collection to keep only the ones I wanted and themes I wanted to build on.

Either way I'm sure it's a tough decision but hope this helps a bit!

Think carefully before you give up any princess and the frog pins. I can completely understand how hard you will have worked to get those pins (as I'm in a imilar position myself, I think you have 1 pin more than I do at the moment!)

What you don't want to do is regret any decision you make, and there's also the fact that pins don't seem to be selling for decent prices at the moment. Whilst there are some in that collection that you will get reasonable amounts for, they're not all going to fly out, so you could end up left with your least favourite of the pins.

Of course, if you decide to sell the LE 25 Tiana, I'd love first refusal! lol

But seriously, why not try to find a way to display them first? Mine are all on a board on the wall. I wouldn't dream of hiding them away. Pins are pretty robust generally, so they could be displayed. If you were worried about the more expensive ones, why not frame them and put them up a little higher, so the kids can't quite reach them (if it's damage by the kids that you're worried about)?

It sounds crazy I know, but I'm even having a hard time taking the pins off the cards (so silly I know) It's just that out of all my collections, these pins seem to be the most that have "taken over" without me having a real vision of what to do with them. At first, I was planning to frame them, but when I pulled them all out and realized just how many I have, it's just not possible to display them all in their room and I don't really have a spot anywhere in the house where it would be appropriate.

I have some do not sell ones: like the Tiana showboat (although I do have two now) or the two we bought when the movie premiered, but other than that, I don't really have a huge sentimental attachment to them like I thought I would. For instance, I LOVE my Enchanted collection because it's MY favorite movie.

THANKS for the advice and yes, Tonya, once I decide, I'll keep you posted on the LE 25 Tiana as frog.

Added: I think more than anything else, it also hacks me off that I can't complete the collection when I've worked so hard without spending a fortune and I really don't want to spend that much on something I can't figure out how to display anyway!

at least if you decided to sell you could concentrate on your enchanted pins which might be a tad easier to find/cheaper. it all depends on want you want more. and hope the decision you make is the right one for you.

I collect specific pins and such for every trip I have too

I would personally keep whatever you feel you should keep. Having every PatF pin is quite an accomplishment, and you should be proud. IMO, display those babies! I know I and many other friends of mine who are older still love the Disney movies because we grew up with them and I'm sure your kids will appreciate the pins too.

Either way it'll work out for you whatever you decide to do.

I keep all my pins in bags which I think is a waste too, but I just can't bring myself to frame them etc, because i am lazy and not very artistic. However, my daughter and I love spending our time looking at them and picking our favorites on each page. She is 6, and she appreciates them quite a bit already. It is a romantic thought, but I am hoping that it will start a family tradition and will go to her kids one day ... or pay for part of her college education or wedding, LOL!

That said, there is also the issue of "Do the pins own me, or do I own the pins?" Unfortunate for most of us, it is the earlier of these options and I am owned by my pins with a special attachement to my Sleeping Beauty pins too.

Maybe it would be better - as you said - part with the ones you are not attached to. That way, someone else can enjoy them, but even then with the economy so bad and pins going a bit cheap, you might have to take a loss.

Another idea is to let your little ones pick maybe 2 pins that they would like to keep, that way they can also have a say.

Best of luck whatever you decide

Well, I'm doing it! I started listing a few days ago and I've already sold a few. My hubby walked in while I was packing up my LE25 Tiana and he was like, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!" When I told him the reasonings, he was supportive, just shocked. I told him it was ok considering they are going to such great people on the boards. I'm excited to focus on my collections for a while since I haven't done that in so long. I really enjoy retro pins and I would love to finish out my Enchanted collection and get some more Tower of Terror pins so that's where I'll be going next. THANKS for all the feedback!

Good luck with your other collections. I don't think Enchanted is going to be much easier than Princess and the Frog really (we collect similar things!) But hopefully it won't take long before you get the pins that you want. I'll keep an eye open for the Encahnted ones you need as you do occasionalyl see them pop up on ebay.

Also just wanted to say - you have no need to worry about the LE25 Tiana; it's going to be on display and really loved (I suspect I'll be spending loads of time in front of my P&F board, just staring at it in shock that I've actually got it!) So I hope that makes you feel better about it.

In fact, i think it's time to get a bigger board for Princess and the Frog and then rearrange all the pins.
